Hi y'all. I have a friend who I'm not real close with but our husbands are good friends.

She has recently undergone breast cancer surgery (removal of one breast) at the age of 39. She has elected not to go through chemo or radiation as her lymph nodes were clear of cancer. So, the doctor told her to change her diet, but he didn't really give her any guidelines (kind of an "I'll get back to you on that" thing). She asked my husband who then threw the ball in my court. Now, this is a VERY country family, who cooks southern style. They eat junk constantly (their five year old is always walking around with Cokes and Little Debbies, any time of day or night!!! Yikes!). I know a radical change is what they need, but I'm not sure if it will stick if they don't just start simply. I have composed a letter to her, but wanted to get input here first. I know she needs to go PSYCHO with her health and juice and do lots of cleansing, but I just don't think she would go for that. They are also a lower income family, so any special equipment would be hard to swing (although I'd certainly be willing to share whatever I have, be it little!). Can y'all think of any other really vital info for her...keeping in mind I don't think she would stop cooking or eating meat altogether?

Dear _____,

I’m glad you asked about nutrition. I’ve been on my own “journey” to eating healthy for the last six months and have learned so much (and lost 50 pounds to boot!). I’m attaching several things I’ve printed off the internet, but don’t let it overwhelm you. If I were you, I would just start with a few simple “rules” for yourself.

Eat lots of raw, fresh fruit and vegetables (especially lots of dark, leafy greens, like spinach, kale, collards, romaine lettuce, etc. – skip the usual iceberg head lettuce, it has no nutritional value!)
Eat very little meat – instead have nuts and seeds (sunflower, sesame, flax, etc.)
As much as possible, eat your veggies/fruit RAW– cooking destroys the very healthy and needed enzymes in our foods.
No sugar (this one is tough, but you can do it!!! If I can, anyone can – I haven’t had sugar for six months and I was a sugar ADDICT)
Avoid processed foods and stick with whole natural foods
No white flour products – eat only whole grains (be strict with yourself on this!)
Avoid white rice, use brown instead

God has given me the strength and grace to make these changes and more in my own life. He will help you do what needs to be done. Try to get your family to make some of these changes with you (mine haven’t gotten “there” yet, but they at least tolerate not having junk in the house). If you have Little Debbies, candy, chips, soft drinks in the house it will be harder for you. Your family will benefit from not having these things around too. Mine tend to get those things if they are out away from me and that’s okay, because I’m still doing what’s best for all of us at home. If you feel stuck and need some motivation or some new recipes to try, call me! I love trying new things so have lots of good raw recipes. I’m very excited about the changes in my life because I FEEL soooooo much better – I have more energy, never have headaches anymore, never have indigestion, sleep better, my skin is softer – just lots of great benefits, so I’m ready to talk about it whenever someone asks as well - just call!

This is a wonderful letter you wrote her. You gave much sound advice. You have a kind heart and I pray your friend takes your advice.
I have gone through the double mastectomy many years ago. I have had many health problem and know that raw is the only way to go. ;)

If she is seriously ready to make a change in her life, you will be a blessing to her. If not, you are still a blessing, but she refuses it.

Yes, you did give great advice- as a cancer conqueror, aside for the meat, that is exactly what I am doing. I just completed a 30 day fast to get my body to healing more efficient and alkaline. One of the problems with cancer is the body is that the body is acid and can not function optimally. Adding the dark green veggies and veggies period will clearly make that change.

Keep us abreast at this process and let us know - also invite her here. :)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I'm thinking to change my letter to NO (or very little) meat, but I don't want her to feel overwhelmed...hmmmm...but to me giving up the sugar was tougher than giving up meat. Yup, I'm gonna' change it so at least I've said what is best for her, even if I gave her an "out".

They don't have internet, but I'm gonna' keep sharing with her and printing things out for her. After all, to have garnered so much wisdom from this forum, and NOT share it would be a crime!

Bless you bunches,
Bretta

Can you either get her or suggest to her Dr Loraine Day M.D.'s video Cancer Dosn't Scare Me Anymore?

Las Dec my husband, Paul, was diagnosed with stage-4, non-hodgkins lymphoma (also in bone marrow). He has refused conventional treatment, especially since this is an incurable cancer. His oncologist has approved the raw diet and cancer fighting supplements Paul is taking, with no medical treatment other than a check-in visit every few months. He saw his primary doctor today, and the doctor was surprised at his blood pressure....104/60. it's been as high as 140/74 about 5 months ago. Paul told him that his appetite was good, but he wasn't as hungry with raw as on SAD. The doctor offered an appetite stimulant, which Paul declined, as his appetite is not an issue. When he got home, Paul looked at the properties of the drug and found that it contained marijuana !!!

Paul looks and feels very healthy, and no one would ever guess that he is a cancer patient. Quality of life at this point is most important to him. He has no symptoms and goes on with life as any healthy person would. Besides being Christians and believing everything is in God's design and control, we both believe that the raw foods He has given in creation, and the natural supplements, have been a huge contributor to his continued well being.

Does your friend have a blender. You should suggest green smoothies as being the best way to get lots of greens in to her without too much work.
I listened to a brief lecture on a link that I picked up here yesterday by one of the guys that was responsible for "The China Study". He related about the test that was done where rats were given a known carsinogen and then groups of them were fed different levels of protein. The rats on 10% all lived and had no signs of tumors whereas the rats fed 20% all died of cancer. He says that protein feeds tumors and all high protein foods should be avoided if you have tumors. It would be hard to keep your protein levels below 10%.
