I've had my vitamix since the summer and have never made raw soup. I have no idea what to do, and i really hate things that a grainy, i don't like tomatoes unless its strictly for marinara sauce.. :) I would try some, dont know if i'll make any yet.

Sorry you had bad service at Cafe Gratitude. The Berkeley Restaurant is my favorite and the people are so nice. There is one young lady that you probably had the bad experience with and I know who she is.
I've found this yummy recipe in Raw Revolution and have been addicted every since. I was never into Raw soups either, but this has made me a believer:
Garden Blend Soup:
3/4 cup purified water
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice or 1/2 orange, coarsely chopped
3-4 cups chopped kale leaves, packed
1/2 apple, chopped or 1/2 small cucumber, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup fresh cilantro or basil leaves, or fresh dill weed, packed
1 1/2 tablespoons light miso
1 1/2 teaspoons freshl squeezed lemon juice
1/2 clove garlic
1/4 red jalapeno chile, with seeds or pinch of cayenne
1/2 green onion (optional)
1/4 sunflower seeds, soake for 1 hour, rinsed, and drained or 1/2 ripe avocado, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup mung bean sprouts
Combine the water, organge juice, kale, apple, cilantro, miso, lemon juice, garlic, chile, and optional green onion (in this order) in a blender and process until smooh.
Add the sunflower seeds or avocado and blend until smooth
Garnish with some of the mung bean sprouts.
Serve immediately.
Yummy, Yummy for the Tummy. Perfect for these cold, rainy Northern California days we are having this week.

commoncents, that sounds delicious! It's so weird that on Monday it was almost 80 degrees, bright sun, gorgeous weather. Tuesday I was rained on all day!

Been living on raw soups since I became raw. Love them! I always have a batch made in the fridge. I was a huge SAD soup lover and raw soups were an easy transition. Especially since I prefer savory over sweet. I keep mine very simple though, usually 6 ingredients or less. A few are have a little more.

I know. You never know what you'll get in the Bay Area.

you could make the soup like blend everything with a little bit of water, and then you can run it through a strainer if you don't like the pulp.

i just dont know what recipe to try, i dont like tomato soup or spicy or anything like V8. And with soup you never know if it will be a good recipe just by reading the ingredients. :)

There is a cheezy corn chowder soup on this site that is really good. It isn't grainy. I need to learn how lists threads in my answers. Sorry about that. You can use the banana search

I really love soups made with celeriac, I love the taste!
Veronica, I find that making a soup with a zucchini base makes the soup come out really creamy with no pulpy bits. Just add to your vitamix a couple of zucchinis, come cold pressed olive oil (or other oil), bit of sea salt and whatever flavours you think might be nice (eg, mushrooms, herbs, celery, tomato or juice of either if you don't want pulp, cauliflower, onion, whatever you like).
Experiment a little with some soup recipes to see what you like. If you come up with stuff you really dislike, make it into a savoury green smoothie or freeze it and use it in small portions in stuff you do like.

I remember I tried to make a tomato soup back in the beginning of my journey, and it turned out horrible. Kind of set the tone for my attitude about soups, I suppose.
