For most food items we go with organic.

However, we've been picking up quite a few non-organic mangoes from a mexican store....the small yellow ones. They are fantastic! But, what I am wondering is if anyone knows if mangoes are among the top of the list to avoid as far as being highly sprayed with chemicals?

I have noticed the larger green/pink skinned mangoes that I can find that are organic just don't ripen right. They stay hard and are not enjoyable.

Thanks for any insight on this! ;)

Hi Rinda,

Mango is on the list of the cleanest 15

Those little yellow ones are sooooo good!

Also, here's a list of 47 fruit/veg and how they're rated from 1-100

You're welcome.

I just noticed mangoes are a 9 compared to bananas, 34. I'm so glad to know that. For some reason, I thought bananas were about as clean as you could go.

Thanks for asking the question!

Thank you for the post. I love the little yellow mangoes too. I just discovered them a month ago.

Yes, I prefer the Manila or Champagne mangoes. Not as pretty as the red/green ones, but they are sweeter.

I don't always have much luck with the red & green ones (bad even when they feel ripe).
