Hey all!
I'm sure some of the mods run into this question all the time, but I'd like to see peoples opinions. I am the one raw foodie in my family, the rest eat cooked, and are carnivores (oups, I guess they all eat carrots sometimes...) and I want to convince them that everyone can feel satisfied and happy after a raw meal, and that they taste good! But if I start cooking up wierdo sprouted salads or using fruits and veggies they don't know of (unless well-disguised) they freak. I know many mothers on this board have convinced their children & partners how wonderful raw food can be, so my question is: What in the world did you uncook to convince them! Just a couple of names or suggestions are great! I suppose I could make lots of raw carob cakes... :D Thanks guys.

Elouet, my family likes chili. The recipe is on this board. You can easily do a search, but basically it is cut up veggies (carrots, celery, leek) with tomatoes, avocado, jalapeno pepper processed in a food processor with chili powder, cumin and salt. It is the most like its SAD counterpart, than other raw recipes I've tried.

I always say that "Actions speak louder than words" they will learn from what you do and show them with your own self. The healthier you get the more they will want to follow.

Here's a recipe (which I haven't done yet) which comes highly recommended:

The first two things my pickiest husband in the world finally relented to try were banana/strawberry smoothies and Alissa's date nut torte. All my non raw friends love that torte. Also, Alissa's blueberry pie, the raw ice cream recipe on the forum and the caramel coconut cookies are loved by everyone.
Oh and so are Alissa's banana flax crackers spread with almond butter and honey, the raw chili, Alissa's carrot salad and Alissa's pasta and marinara. These were all easy to put in front of non raw eaters.

Good luck and report back if you can! :)

Blessings~

yeah , I just "cook" what I want to eat - it always looks so fresh and alive , but you know- going raw is a personal decision and I doubt that a few good recipes are going to get people to live this lifestyle , it has to come from a deeper place ,ya know?

good luck :)
