Hi everyone. I'm new to this board and the raw experience :)
I'm not confident that I am soaking my nuts and seeds correctly and I really need some help!
I've soaked two large batches of walnuts recently... they looked fine going in the water, but after a few hours I noticed tiny little greyish specks on several of the nuts... i picked as many of them as I could out. Some others I could tell were definitely bad, and I pulled those as well. Does this mean that the entire batch must be forfeited because they were all in the same "rancid" environment? I hate to throw out the entire batch if it's ok to keep them. HOWEVER, we have major fungal sensitivities in our house, and I'm fearful of ingesting anything that will cause a setback. Is there anyway to know for sure?
I seem to be having the same problem with my sunflower seeds. It's very difficult for me to discern which sunflower seed sprouts are good, as they can have they greyish color to them anyway. Did I mention how time consuming it is to try and weed through these nuts and seeds? Is there an easier way?
A short introduction to my family and me...
my daughter, age 4, is autistic. I have ongoing candida and irritable bowel issues, and my 2 year old also has many food sensitivities... We have seen much improvement using probiotic, cultured foods. We are now branching further and trying to consume more and more raw foods... I'm happy to find this message board!
