I'm 6'1", 205lbs, twenty one year old considering going on a 50% raw diet, to start out with. I'm concerned about losing muscle mass when I start this, and want to make sure I get a balanced diet that will allow me to keep what muscle I have/gain more and have the energy I need to function on my now normal level of activity.
I had been trying to just cut calories, I was going on around 1500 calories a day and rode my bike 5 miles most days, and went from 225 to 215.
Then I started lifting weights and I found out that even when I was sedentary I needed 2100-2500 a day, and 2500-3000 the days I worked out, to lose weight. That's how I dropped from 215 to 205. I feel great, am stronger, have lost a good deal of fat, and it seems like that process would continue if I persisted.
How will the massive influx of raw food effect my calorie needs? I'm going to be getting part of my intake from soy protien powders and normal crappy foods, but how should I think of food groups when going raw. I really don't have the money to buy books other than for school, so please don't tell me I need to read Dr. so-and-so's book, unless it's free online. I would just be happy if there were someone else out there who can tell me what they eat and maybe how they figure out how much of what kind of food they choose to eat.
My girlfrfiend is also going raw (this is her idea, to her credit) , is there some kind of index that we should refer to?
I also need help on how to do this cheaply, as my girlfriend and I are both fulltime students with a limited food allowence.
I'm sorry this was such a long post, but I really appreciate any guidance I can get. I'm really interested in this lifestyle. Thank you so much.
