Are there many folks here who enjoy their raw bliss the way I do: whole foods mostly and wild greens?

I neither use a dehydrator nor a vitamix. The luxury for me lies in the simplicity.

Anyone else?

Freshlight Eva, I love it!!! I am about to embark on that journey, simple simple simple...as I am going on the road. It will call for basic grab n go raw. I am excited at the prospect.

I saw I was getting my raw eating way too complicated for me. So I switch it up now. yipeeeee

Yes...

I eat lots of fruits and greens - however I do like my morning smoothie..I am in too much of a rush in the mornings so I tend to have a large banana smoothie and it keeps me going for ages. :) So close..!

I have an Acme juicer. Otherwise, the only food processor I own is a knife.

I'm a Hamilton Beach blender girl.......just for morning smoothies. Everything else is of the 'grab-n-go' nature. Love it!

Yeah here I am :p

I rather eat a fruit or a vegetable as it was made..whole one.

You know there is one thing that I just dont know if it's true.So they say that everyone should drink green smoothies..like without them you will lack of nutrients and so on..And then I start thinking how the heck did our ancestors survive without vitamix or any other blenders and juicers :D

Can someone explain this to me?

Emmeline -

Our ancestors were not living in a genetically-modified, hormonally-altered, chemically-toxic world. :)

Boutenko has some lovely things to say about it in GREEN FOR LIFE. :)

I have started eating simply. I feel so much better than when I was making complicated stuff. Easier too. I mostly eat fruit and greens. I occasionally have seed milks, especially pumpkin seed, because I am trying to seal-heal a tooth cavity.

Yes I understand but what does this have to do with getting enough vitamins and nutrients?

Yes I understand but what does this have to do with getting enough vitamins and nutrients?

Many of us grew up on antibiotics & SAD diets which can impair the body's ability to assimilate and absorb nutrients. For example, gut dysbiosis caused by antibiotics and medications can result in the lining of the intestines being unable to attach carrier proteins to minerals, like zinc.

Also, our soils are depleted, so today's produce we buy in stores is less nutritious than the wild stuff our ancestors ate. The chemicals in our environment require us to have even more nutrients to deal with the constant assault on our bodies, especially our livers. Blended foods are easily digested, giving our overstressed systems a little break.

There are many, many reasons. It is very upsetting.

Best Wishes

I do agree but I feel that I will not get as much nutrients if I do not blend. This especially applies to greens. I would not be abel to eat enough greens any other way.

I like this post. The way I feel is, there is so much in our environment, in the air, in the houses, the buildings, the chemicals people use and who knows what is being sprayed or exhausted into the skies.

So our bodies need all the help they can get. Green is bottom line living energy to revitalize our cells.

The reason for green smoothies is that most people cannot and will not chew,in a day, the amount of green the body needs. Green smoothies are the delivery system to get the greens.

Simple. I am looking forward to simple. All the trimmings of raw make it specail yet I am seeking simple. In my life,in my food, everything.
On the road will be simple for me to keep it simple. I am excited.

I tend to eat purer in the warm weather and heavier in the cold weather. In the summer, I will drink lots of juices and eat whole food. In the cold weather, I do more dehydrating and prepare gourmet recipes.

I am transitioning right now but my goal is to eat mono. After my first 30 days I was going to do a 30 day green juice fast the transition into a mono diet. I have been reading alot of info about this way of eating and it seems to be superior to the transitioning phase where I am making food based on SAD recipes but raw vegan form. I am trying to heal my body and already can see dramactic results. Simple is best.

I understand where you are coming from. I did the same as well. I don't even think eating raw gets you all the nutrients needed.

My belief is this, no one society will allow you to get all nutrients needed, raw or not, because in a certain society people prefer to eat certain foods over and over and over again. People really don't eat a wide range of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. They stock up on their favorites to eat to the exclusion of foods you dont' like as much that may have different types of nutrients you are not eating from the foods that you are eating.

I still think that taking vitamins and minerals is a necessity for people raw or not, for optimal health.

I think simplicity is like "the next level". If you jump too fast into it you start to want the more exciting complicated things (that's what happened to me!). But its great to transition to purism. I hope to get there someday!

I agree. This is why I was disappointed when most of the supermarkets here stopped having a dedicated organic section and just had them on the same shelf as the conventional. Now you go to what you want whereas before I would consider everything in the organic section and sometimes buy a food that I was not in the habit of eating just because it was organic.

I have found experimenting to be very helpful to me in finding the way to do raw that works best for me. We are all different and so individually need different things from the raw food lifestyle. So far my experiments have illuminated my path toward the simple raw food lifestyle as the path that resonates health, radiance, and joy for me.
