i just had the brilliant notion to take the lid off of my vitamix and use the plunger to go a little deeper
it basically ripped the end wide open
urrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh

Yeap you got to keep the lead and only remove the handle on the top by twisting it. Then the plunger never go deeper then it should.
Sorry for that, hope your vitamix is still ok.

Been there done that. I went to the L. A. County Fair, where Vita-Mix has demonstrations every year, told the Man My Story and he gave me another one. Try calling the Company, they should send you one, its still under Warrenty.

i've done that too.....when i was working in the kitchen of a raw restaurant in LA! i won't say which, but it was my first day working for a well known chef, and a plastic spatula was shredded in the vitamix!:)
i managed to hide it...live and learn!

I did the exact same thing with my Jack Lalanne Healthmaster. I called them and they just sent me a new one at no cost. I don't think they are even making JLL Healthmasters anymore - I think they've been changed over to the Montel Williams Healthmaster. But I'm glad to see that they are still honoring the JLL guarantee.

The cover of my dinosaur blender fell in(the inner hole cover on lid you load into)and it chopped it all to bitsy. Plus ruined one wicked smoothie.. That was worse than crying over spilled mylk.
Oh and the top has come off a couple times.Enough said. Happy spring cleaning...hahahaha

I've done the same thing! I never thought about calling for a free replacement (under warranty) because it was my own dumb fault. :p I just went to the Vita-Mix website and purchased a new one. I think total including shipping it was only like $17.00 - $19.00.
Scared the bajeebies out of me, though, when it hit the blade!!

totally funny I went hiking with my neighbors tonight who are the ones who lent it to me (it is there daughter's who is home from college for the summer so they have a spare)
anyway, the plan was not to say anything and just replace it.....but i am never good at that :D i always confess
what is funny and SWEET is that they did the same thing with their vitamix and had been using her plunger.....when they gave me that one it left them plunger- less!
too sweet....and now i have the fortune to know exactly how to say "thank you"....looks like i will be ordering 2 new plungers to fidalgo island stat!

hahahaha I just did this a few days ago. My brain must have turned off for a second, not sure why I took the lid off and go deeper with the plunger... lol What a mess and a waste :p
Just got my second plunger in the mail ! yay !
Ive done it too! I was making tahini and forgot to put the lid back on after scraping the jug down. I couldnt understand what the noise was so switched it off, looked, then switched it back on and did exactly the same again!

Oh yes, when i first got my vitamix I did that too. My tamper has numerous cuts in it, and the very bottom can get food and water stuck in it now. I wish i could get a new tamper. :(

How Funny! I did that about a month ago and my Vitamix was still under Warranty so, they sent me another one.....NO Charge. Thank Goodness!

Same here. Mine is still usable but liquid will get inside. It does a number to your insides to hear that sound!!
So sorry green jeanie.
You probably spared a lot of plungers!
