How bad is it to go from eating straight junk to water fasting? I've done this before and felt fine but I'm always reading about how you should really ease into the fast for the detox to be less intense. If I can handle the detox effects is it still okay to do this?

Are there serious repercussions for going at it this way or is it mostly the intensity of the detox that is of concern. I don't want it to be too detrimental to my body but it's just that when I usually feel like "Okay, it's time to fast, my body wants it." it is at those times where I've been stressed and need to recenter and get back off the junk and into raw living after the fast.

I guess I'd just like some opinions on this in general. It's one of those times right now and while I plan to just go as long as I can I'm hoping this fast will be a longer one. I don't want to be doing something I positively shouldn't be doing though either but I really want to get the ball rolling NOW and make it over the hill that encompasses the first few days before the work week starts otherwise I'll have to wait another week.

Sorry for the novel! I've just been so curious about this for so long.

I would recommend juicing for a few days first and then switching to water. Maybe do 3 days juice, 2 days water, 3 days juice ect. It would be more benificial to your body if you don't rush it imo.

i disagree. just do it!!! it's the breaking of the fast, not the beginning that really matters. (((hugs))) enjoy your journey!

Thank you both for your responses! I have jumped right in! I figure my body wouldn't be craving this fast so much if it weren't right. As long as the intensity of the detox is the only concern in these sort of situations I'm confident I can handle it. Have a lovely Sunday. :)

don't forget that intense detox that your body can't handle gets redeposited.....that would be my biggest concern.

make sure you're getting the gunk out - not feeling rotten for nothing.

If you feel good about it then it's the right thing to do. Enjoy your fast.

Is there some specific thing I should be doing to make sure that I'm actually getting the detox OUT of my body? I drink a lot of water and dry brush but that's about it.

that's all i do and i fast a lot... ;)

some people do enemas and colonics... but i choose not to. that's another way to release toxins

for me... water is da bomb! that's what i focus on while i'm fasting... drink drink pee drink drink pee, and then i drink more!

i do contrast (hot/cold) showers with massaging the body
it gets all the juices flowing and helps me a lot

also, any kind of physical activity makes me feel much better

+ drinking water (hot or cold, depending how you feel)
