I have a wheateena - but I'm worried it takes a long time and gets hot - I don't want cooked wheat grass juice!
When I took it apart this morning - the inside big screw/juicer was really hot. so I'm worried.
What do you have? How do you like it? How much did it cost? Worth it?

I have a hand-crank auger type. Forget the name at the moment, but I love it. Helps build arm muscles! Healthy Juicer? Think it was around 44-45 bucks. LOVE IT!
Revvell USED to sell this - she still may...????

anyone tried wheatgrass in the vitamix, blend w water and strain?
i know there is a prior thread on that.
i want to try it!
Yeah, but do be careful to blend only a relatively small amount at a time because wheatgrass fibre is very, very tough stuff when there's enough of it, and even a Vitamix will start puffing smoke if you put too much in the carafe. The shape of wheatgrass (long and thin!) also has a problematic tendency to wrap around the blender blades, which can be dangerous as is unbalances the blade assembly and could potentially lead to the blade assembly breaking the ball-bearing and possibly even coming detached while in use (ouch!). I've experienced similar problems with long pieces of seaweed (although I stopped my NewGena blender quickly, before any damage was done).
To be completely honest with you, I don't feel blending (with or without subsequent draining) is a truly viable option. Juicing is definitely the way to go. If we were talking about something like Kale, then a Vitamix and a juicer would be evenly matched, but wheatgrass is certainly more of a juicing green.
I juice mine in an Oscar Vitalmax 900. Great results, no problems, just don't fill the chute more than half full at a time (again, because the wheatgrass fibre is too tough and will stall, damage, or wear out the machine). If you follow this simple precaution, the Vitalmax 900 is great for wheatgrass juicing purposes.
Arky.

I use the Greenstar Gold and am very happy with it.
I do the wheatgrass first and then I just juice other things without cleaning it so that I will not waste any of the goodness.

I use my immersion blender food processor attachment. I put the cut up wheatgrass and a little water then process it and strain and squeeze through cheesecloth.
