Just found out I have IBS. Has anyone healed their bodies from this? If so, what was your eating like?
Thanks,
Trish

IMO, IBS comes from what you eat. I had it back when I used to eat cooked tomatoes and red meat(I had other food triggers as well, wheat, dairy, etc).

Once I cut out a lot of the irritants, I no longer have issues(I did this years ago). Now that I'm raw, I only have the occasional gas when I don't combine food properly or it cruciferous veggies.

Eating raw food can heal IBS, I hope you heal yours.

My eating was like: dairy, lots of soda, alcohol on the weekends, an occasional fried food. All things that should be avoided. I didn't avoid them, until I just couldn't deal with the pain anymore.

Now, about the only time my stomach acts up is when I get really upset/stressed out. All the wonderful raw food has done my body good so far.

Yeah the sinus issues are part of the detoxification of all the major systems of your body(respiratory, digestive, etc) I still have those issues too,and I've been raw for months.

I have found that soluable fiber foods really help. If you eat raw, you are eliminating most IBS trigger foods, except raw greens and seeded fruits.

I eat a lot of green smoothies with Ripe bananas. With salads I need to have a nut based dressing or avocado on it to keep my colon calm. If I were to eat salad without a fat, I have a whole lot of churning going on in my colon with the resulting Ibs symptoms leaving my body. (yuch)

Bananas, avocados, and mangos are great if you are experiencing any symptoms. I also like to drink almond milk/date/banana/carob shakes when I am having symptoms.

For me, kiwis, strawberries, and raspberries are really hard for me to eat by themselves. I include them in my diet by adding a small amount of them to a smoothie. Having them blended in my vitamix really makes them easier on my digestive system.

I have not found a way to include broccoli on a raw diet. Even blended, it gives my all kinds of trouble, which is sad because I love Alissa's broccoli soup recipe.

My friend was diagnosed with IBS, turns out he's celiac instead. I don't think you should have problems if you are staying raw. It's all the meat dairy and wheat that put a hard load on your digestive tract.

I've reversed mine, even without being consistantly raw...but if I veer too far off the path, it returns with a vengance!

You can do this! It's definately caused by what you eat!
(Also, not getting enough sleep triggers it for me, as well!)

15 years ago i started eating a whole food vegan diet ,
mainly dry beans / brown rice / boiled or baked potato /
whole wheat bread / salad / banana / peanuts in shell .
what i thought was very healthy , but still 7 years ago
i got gut problems diagnosed as ibs . eventually i went
raw 3 1/2 years ago but still havent healed it , BUT ive
been into the topic for years and have seen MANY heal
on a raw food diet . im 50 though , and before vegan ate
like zero raw and all meat / potatoes / bread / canned vegis /
and junk foods / pop / etc , thats what i grew up on =
the old meat and potatoes man outlook . so ive alot of
pollution to flush out and cells to rebuild . and the outlook
ive arrived at is a nutrient rich liquid / juice raw diet is best
to heal gut issues . nut milks , smoothies , juices all in bounds .
it gives one all the nutrients they need for energy and
cell restructuring while resting the g.i. tract from having to
break down solids , and from the flow of solid foods through
the tract which if its damaged logically imo would make it
more difficult to be healed then if its free of solids .
so i do juice fasts / liquid diet as much as possible .

hopefully you can heal on all / mostly raw like the majority could imo .
if not once you get used to a liquid diet its no problem and i find
it keeps the fat off which i tend to build up during the winter when
im not working really hard and also eating alot of nuts and avacados .

bottom line is ide say find your favorite smoothies and juices and
feed on them as much as possible as that mode shall be your best
medicine .

and if your a ' c ' drinker you wont like this but my opinion is
coffees a major NO . before i quit it i got down to my saturday
night coffee party where i drank 2 cups to celebrate .
but besides gut i eventually got tired of tooth staining and its
known drain on calcium and quit it . hot liquids arent natural
anyway and im striving to eliminate the herbal teas i consume

I didn't have problems or at least didn't realize I had problems until I went 100% raw vegan over night. I was vegetarian, ate lots of cooked foods, lots of candy and drank ALOT of coffee, energy drinks and alcohol.
Within weeks of changing my diet I was having issues very very similar to IBS. My doctor was sure it was IBS or Crohns disease. I was never diagnosed with either. I kept a food journal. I wrote down EVERYTHING i ate and drank and also how things were coming out. I figured out what gave me problems.

Being inconsistent was a huge problem! I don't have problems anymore. I don't know if maybe it was detox or what and dont really want to find out lol.
But what helped was writing everything down and seeing it on paper what was going on and avoiding certain foods or amounts of certain foods that were causing problems.

there was a lady on another forum i used to post on that had it, and healed from it.

i don't think she is raw anymore or vegan, but definitely healthy, and not a SAD eater. very conscience of what she puts into her body. she's an inspiration definitely.

i think she dropped off of the face of the planet though unfortunately. she was a cool lady. she had to do some soul searching or something i guess though. =(
