Or just eat them as is?

Seems like I read you could get b12 by not washing them but I'm afraid some crawlies might be on there that I miss.

So, do you wash yours?

It depends on where they come from and how dirty they are, but in general, no, I don't wash them :) .

You love peeing on everything? Well really VFL ... I don't think we needed to hear that information!

:D

I don't usually, but it depends on how dirty or gritty they are.

I applaud you VFL. We all need to start peeing all over everything. This wasting our last precious clean water by peeing in toilets has got to stop.

How cool would that be? A worldwide "pee-in"?

VFL--make sure you do it in the compost pile too---its supposed to be a great compost activator!

i generally wash my greens, at least the ones im taking home to use. the stuff im munching on as im gardening i dont worry about for some reason...the lack of consistency makes no sense i guess, but it makes me (mentally) feel better. most of the stuff i eat while gardening though is high up off the ground, like chickweed or corn salad, unlike the sorrel and dandelion i take home and wash... i think they did a study and not washing greens didnt seem to fix peoples b12 problems. so i prefer to wash.

Those crawlies are the B-12......that or fecal remnants from some animals.

I wash everything thoroughly and take a b-12 supplement.....I don't know if I'll ever be wild enough not to, lol.

Not to be crude or anything - but I have read that performing oral sex - and swallowing - can be a great source of b-12 for vegans - I don't know if that's true or not. True for whatever gender you're with, but more so for a male donor.....

No one special in my life at the moment - so I take b-12.

lol! read a story once about a man who was known for his amazing tomatoes. Turned out his fertilizer was wee wee. I did a search and tried to find it and found a lot of people put urine in their compost.

Guess I'll just keep washing. Had a visual of my dog going out and wetting everything. Maybe it's healthy but I'm not quite there yet.

The Not Milk man had a column on that just recently.
When I was talking to him about it, he told me that a vegan group gave him a t-shirt that said "Ask me about free samples of B-12!"

Glad I didn't offend anyone! And to know that is out there in the community....

:p Me too!

On another note - could you get arrested if a cop found you peeing in your own garden????

I would think that not raw people's pee is to acidic and would harm the plants. But if your raw, your pee is probably pretty clean and actually only a very small portion conains toxin elimanation from your body the rest is just good ol H2O
