What do you all think of this article?

I was looking for some raw dried shredded coconut to purchase online, and came across this. Now I'm not sure what to purchase.

By the way - I just checked out Alissa's store and saw that she has raw shredded coconut for sale. I was hoping to find a bulk source for a cheaper price, I have a large family and we'll eat a lot of it. But I'm still wondering about the article. I do believe that raw is best, but then I come across these types of things and it makes me unsure.

I'm not worried at all, many things can become contaminated and pose a threat to human health.
I buy raw desiccated coconut (when I haven't made enough of my own from fresh harvested coconuts I make milk from). I've never had a problem and I doubt I ever will.
There are many things people tell you not to consume raw, including lettuce believe it or not (listeria monocytogenes, may cause meningitis in unborn children and many other serious illnesses).
If you are worried, buy it from a reputable source.
Staying healthy is the best combatant against microbial infections.

I don't know, could be possible. Bacteria pops up everywhere. You can get a Brown Mature Coconut, crack, peel the outside off and shreed, flake, eat in chunks, do it anyway you like. That would be your Cheapest way out. The Family would Love doing it. You don't have to Peel the dark outside off if you choose not to do so.
