I've seen people state they are 80% raw, 90% raw, how do you determine what percentage of raw you are?

I don't. I consider myself 100%. All Raw baby.

But...say you have one meal SAD per day, then maybe you are 80%. Or say you drink tea. Does that make you 99 9/10th percent?

Too complicated for me.

I AM ONE RAW CHICKIE!!!!!!!!!!

Zoocrew, it's just an estimation. There's no actual way of measuring. If you eat as few cooked meals a week, you might be around 80% raw. If you eat a cooked meal a few times a month, you might be about 90%. If you eat all raw but include a few "cooked" items like pasturized almonds or oat groats, etc, you might consider yourself 98%.

It's just a general description of your level of raw. Nothing to worry about.

I input everything that I eat into fitday.com
I take the total calories cooked and divide by the total calories
I then multiply by a raw quotient: 0.75 if I ate bananas, 0.5 if I ate pasteurized almonds. If I ate both, I just invert the number.
I write this number in indic numerals, multiply by the day of the week.

then I stop caring ;-)

happy April 1st.

seriously though, everyone that's posted here has pretty much nailed it.

ROFL! thanks, that's cute.

I was just curious. I know some people are die hard in whatever it is they do, and when I saw the percentages, I thought, oh boy I'm going to be one of those 66.9 percenters, I'm failing, haha! I figure if I include as much raw into my diet and reduce the cooked meats down to a few times a week - if that, I'm doing great.

I think you get it, Zoocrew. :)

It's impossible. You could go by calories or weight, but if it's weight it should be dry weight, as in deducting for the water content in the foods. Who has time for that?

You can use my phrase, "Lotsaraw" :D

I tend to eat 4-6 non-raw (but definitely with salads & fruits - even when dining out) meals per month

Everything else is RAW!

(oh, and I drink wine and beer sometimes too - gasp!)

Matt you make me laugh, halfway through i was like wow.. scientific and then i just rolled my eyes... I would never want to know certain, only we know how well we are doing and you can even eat badly on raw anyways, so exact percentage shouldn't mean anything, it's more how you feel and function.

By the way, what does SAD mean? I see it everywhere.

For me, it's like this: If I am all raw all day, and then I eat my son's leftover egg and a slice of sprouted bread cause we're broke & it seems wasteful, well then that is like 85% raw. If I flat out eat a cooked meal which fits in a soup bowl, in addition to everything else being raw, that is like 80% raw. It is like a combo volume/caloric guestimation approach.

I've been 75%-80% raw since fall 2001...this is my estimation based on having gone days or weeks of those 7 1/2 years 100% raw, having had most of my days nearly raw, having been broke for months and eaten only scraps from my kids plate (raw and cooked, but very little food), and then having had days when I ate 50% raw (those were rare, maybe 3 days per month on average). So I figure 75%-80% raw.

Did you know that 95% of statistics are made up? LOL. My friend tells me this all the time, she is quoting someone, not sure who.
