Hi All,
I'm starting the master cleanse today. I've had several 10-day cleanses. I'd like to do a 40 day fast this time around. My goal is to cleanse and lose weight.
I have a relative who went on the Master Cleanse for 40 days and lost around 50lbs. She maintained the weight lost for several years, then went through a stressful period and gained all the weight back.
I used maple syrup during the other cleanses, this day I'm gonna try the agave nectar.
This is day 1 and I feel pretty good. I have and slight headache, but I know that's to be expected the first few days.

the maple syrup i think is used to provide minerals that you normally would not be getting otherwise. the book says it's really important to follow the instructions. i'm not sure why. i don't know if agave gives you those minerals like the maple syrup does. i am not really sure. i have heard of others doing it with agave. it is YOUR program.
50 lbs is a lot. so is 40 days for an mc. man, mc is ROUGH. i've done it before and struggled with the 10 recommended days. i lost 10 lbs on it, and gained it back. though i am not overweight or in need of losing. if i lost 50 i would be a corpse. i felt really clean when i was done though.
good luck. i hope you get everything out of it that you want.

I did the MC on Jan 1st for 21 days....I felt really good & light. Be careful b/c 40days is a long time on the MC & I agree with Circle in that not being sure if you should use agave bc the maple syrup gives you nutrients needed while cleansing so definetly look into that b4 you decide to use agave....best of luck!
I plan on doing another MC early this summer
keep us posted!

i hate waking up early to do the swf, man. oh and the senna tea is rank.
i feel a lot better juice feasting then on the mc. i find the mc very abrasive. i would not do it again. some people love up on it though. i've heard of people doing it like three times a year and stuff. o_o
it is very hardcore for me. lots of flip flopping of emotions and physical.

I take out what I don't like with Everything. With the Master Cleanse..I don't use the Cayenne or the Laxative tea.

I've done research on agave nectar and it appears to have more vitamins and minerals than maple syrup. But to make sure I'm covered, I'm planning to alternative between the two.
Here is some nutritional info I found on agave nectar and maple syrup:
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/ethnic-foods/10007/2
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/sweets/5602/2
As you can see, agave appears to be more nutritious, having more vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
Today is day 2 and I feel pretty good. Slight headache last night before I went to bed, but it gone this morning.

Would a seven day MC be beneficial? I know 10 days is recommended, but have also heard of people having some success with as few as 4 days...

I read in Tom Wooshlyn's book that agave is ok for no more than ten days. He claims it doesn't have enough nutrients to really sustain you any longer than that. I have also heard of people using it on long fasts and feeling great. With me personally I could on do agave a few days at a time.

I read the same thing... So, I'm planning too alternative between the two --- maple syrup and agave nectar. Thanks...;)

This is day 3 and I feel Awesome! The one thing I noticed is I eased into the fast better using agave nectar. For some reason the maple syrup always made me hungry in the beginning.

Help! What are the possible side effects of doing the SWF in evening? I do not see myself waking up at 0430 to ensure all is "out" before heading to work. I thought I had a good plan (drink the "lemonade" all day, work out, shower, SWF, sleep...do it all again)
Your advice please...

Agave for longer MCs has been fine for many, many people. For 40 days and longer.
7 days is GREAT.
Even one MC lemonade is really good for the body.
Cayenne can be sprinkled REALLY lightly into the lemonade, but don't skip it entirely.
The SWF is not a great idea for before bed... you want the lemonade and cayenne to do it's work overnight... then flush out the loosened ick in the morning. If you don't have time, do the tea morning and evening. I chug the SWF and it speeds the process a lot! Don't sip - gulp it on down.
The Master Cleanse as written is highly alkalinizing. It is a powerful cleanse during which a person can continue to work and funtion normally even as they cleanse.
My first MC opened my eyes to raw food!
Best,
LN

I started again today. Some unexpected relatives dropped by this weekend, so I ate Saturday and Sunday. The food I ate was fairly healthy (no fast food or soda) and I had no cramping even though I was on day 4 of the cleanse.

I too, will be breaking the MC...unexpected out of town guests...I'd rather postpone the MC than miss this social/dining opportunity...will be back on this soon!!
On a side note - when is the SWF supposed to kick in? Absolutely NOTHING out since the SWF :( (other than liquid in, liquid out)....is this normal?

I am doing my first ever MC... I am doing fairly ok, as I am actually a bit surprised to have gotten to day 5!! Tomorrow is day 6!! I think I have it down to quite a system too! I just hate the salt water morning chugs, but what can you do. I enjoy the tea bc it's the only variation from the lemonade. I am not really emotional or moody at all, in fact I feel really focused and feel pretty fine. I'm curious to see how the end results are, and hope to really see a difference
For those of you that have done this before, what real results did you notice? And was it tough coming off the mc? I still think of food, and really can't wait to eat sooonnnnn! :)
I have been organizing my raw food recipes and ideas for when my fast is done and I'm quite obsessed about this - food sounds yummy and I can't wait!
I wish I could cheat + bc I have several big charity events this weekend.. And the food is yummy, but I plan on seeing this through the 10 days, and then I guess there is that progression you must take off the mc!! :)
What do you guys eat when you get off, don't you have to wean yourself off?
