Made some really delicious kelp noodles last night, finally got the texture and flavor right. Last night after dinner I wasn't feeling so well and was really tired, but I put it off to the wine and champagne we had to celebrate my Dad's b-day.

Today I had the leftovers for lunch--I'm having awful stomach cramps, brain fogginess, just feel nasty. All I've eaten otherwise is greens, so that's not the problem.

I've never had an adverse reaction to kelp noodles...me thinks they were swimming in a little too much party liquids! :p:eek::cool:

The worst of it is passing, but now, yeah it just feels like there is a rock sitting in my stomach and I'm having some acid reflux. These are going on the back shelf for a WHILE.

Oh yeah, blame the kelp noodles! Uh-huh! I hear 'ya. I'd try them sometime MINUS the alcohol!!! They really are good. How did you fix them?

::looks around to see mattshor's back shelf; hoping to steal them::

I tried them today, sans alcohol! Today was even worse! Last night I blamed the alcohol, today I had to reconsider :-)

maybe if you're nice to me I'll send the two packets I have leftover.

I made the recipe that is on the back of the packet but replaced the peanut butter with Tehina and threw in some almonds and chopped up mushrooms and potatoes. Wish I had some red cabbage to throw in as well--really craving red cabbage.

I'm still thinking it's the other "stuff" you partied with.

Nice to you? Matt baby! I'm always nice to 'ya!!!!

um, aren't I? If not, I will strive to be...;)

It could be, but I'm gonna give them a rest in any case. Today I felt great, and then within 15 minutes of eating the badness began. I've been going through a lot digestion-wise and now may just not be the time.

you surely always are, I'm just playing around :-) the lack of facial expression is such a pity when it comes to online communication.

How do we ever really know what's raw - really raw?

Like the pasteurized almonds from california that can be labeled RAW.

When something happens like that - I'm immediately suspicious.

Anyone know for sure how these noodles are made?

That's weird, I've been eating them for years and never had an issue. I find they fill me up VERY quickly but I never feel ill after eating them. Do you generally eat sea vegetables? Maybe try smaller amounts or a plainer recipe to see if it's just the combination of ingredients. Just a thought. Hopefully you get to keep enjoying them.

Me too: have had them, liked them, no reaction other than getting too full when I eat the WHOLE package but it's so hard when in a yummy raw pad-thai sauce mixed with greens and basil strips. Last time I only ate about 80% of the bowl and felt just fine. I agree that this issue may be related to the alcohol. Tummy might still be recovering and struggling with having to process something something more complicated, especially with nuts and seeds in there too. If it were me, for the next few days I'd keep it to lots of fruit with occasional mellow greens and lots of water to let your body recover and focus on flushing that alcohol out.

Hmm, they also were super filling, and I got full very quickly last night. Maybe I've just forgotten what it feels like to be "stuffed"

what a pleasant thought.

I swear something is up with them lately.
I bought a case and they smell and taste a lot different than usual. I emailed the company and they said to just give them an extra rinse, but something is going on with this batch.

I've felt a bit icky after eating them before-so, I try to stay away from them.
Do you usually eat potatoes ? Was this your first time ? If so, the pain you were feeling might have been from all of the starch in the potaotes..How did you prepare them ? Hope your tummy feels better soon. And, stay away from those for at least a little while ?:p

hmm, I thought they smelled a little ganky, and I did not rinse them very well..
