My name is Michele, and I've decided to keep this intro short and sweet (I'm posting my long long story in my blog). Basically, I went 100% raw in 1999, healed myself of all sorts of issues, started eating cooked food again in 2001 and have been about 80% raw since then, which isn't enough. I gained back 100 pounds I'd lost when I first went raw, along with some health ailments, symptoms of which have almost completely disappeared since I went 100% raw on Friday. I've tried this about 20 times before in the past 7 years, but this time feels different. The best choice for me is being all raw; it is the only thing that works. My friend suggested this forum for support, which I need right now during the first few weeks.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here! :-)
Best Wishes!

Welcome, you will get the support you need from here:). Good luck, any before and after pics from when you were eating S.A.D before '99 and after being 100% raw?
Good luck!

I do...as soon as I get my printer/scanner later this month, I will upload them. LOL, my diet was pretty standard, just minus the flesh foods. I used to stick BBQ Fritos in cheese sandwiches made on white bread at the corner store, drink a V8 Splash and think I was being "healthy"!
Eating unprocessed vegan foods, ie, sprouted breads, everything made from scratch, etc, was less offensive to my health than the junky veggie foods, but it still led to the same results...it just took longer.
It's a good thing I love raw foods! I can't wait to learn new recipes and get my son eating raw with me at home all the time.
But I digress...nice to meet you & thanks for the response & interest. :D

Yeah, I can relate to that "I-think-I'm-being-so-healthy" thing, I too, use to favour white bread with chicken and stuffing(Yuck ha ha)and a twix or something, thinking I was actually being healthy, it didn't help that my friends believed so too...:eek:
Well done on gettin back to it! Yeah should be good for your son too!

I'm still going back and forth with my hi raw and not so HI raw...but I keep on plugging along trying to get to my pure breed status:cool: My hubby is pretty much a vegOknight but not "raw". He insists on rice daily and rarely gives in to brown rice but he is open to trying some raw---->slowly and not everyday fuggedaboutit

I am definitely going to try to get him eating all raw at home. School is a lost cause, but he loves everything I make that is raw, as long as it doesn't contain vegetables. He loves red bell peppers, cucumbers, avocados, grape tomatoes...but the only raw veggies he will eat are kale (with olive oil, honey and salt - shudder), carrots, and very rarely celery or romaine lettuce.
This summer should be the ideal time for him transitioning to a higher level of raw food (he is about 70-75% now). Right now, I am trying to get him off cooked starch - grains make him congested & give him eczema, but he loves them and doesn't want to give them up. I also believe they make his mental health issues worse. We shall see...I have my fingers crossed.
Thanks :-)

Keep being as raw as you can...I was about your GW after being raw the last time (I got down to 170 which was purrrrfect - crazy cat lady here), so it can be done! :-)
