I live in Mississauga - I'm curious to know if there are any raw foodists near me. It would be nice to have some local support. Plus I discovered a few raw food restaurants in Toronto :D

I'm in Kingston, Ontario. Unfortunately no raw restaurants anywhere around here. But I'm thinking about starting up some potlucks.

Wow, I usually have a tough time finding locals on these communities. Good to know there are others around here :)
Moretta - Thanks, I'll try to remember to message you after work!

Wow two raw foodies in Kingston! I live in Napanee.
Why the heck don't we have a rawstaurant around these parts anyway?

areilla10, I have no idea. What's disappointing is that even the only vegetarian restaurant the Lotus closed last year. I know there are other raw food enthusiasts in the city but I haven't connected with them yet. Just the sense I get from what kinds of products people are asking for at the HFS, etc. Anyway, I'm wanting to start up a potluck in town so that some of us can connect with each other and support each other. Would you be interesting in coming to raw potlucks?
dawLs, gosh I never saw your response from before! Would you be interested in coming to raw potlucks too?

I haven't even tried going raw yet. I'm still in the research phase. I like to google the heck out of everything before I commit to it. ;) Sure I guess I'd go to a potluck, but I would probably need a little guidance on what to bring. I think it would be fun to just meet folks who eat raw all the time to see what makes them tick. Frankly I'm a little scared to take the plunge, knowing what's coming down the road: detox symptoms, wicked cravings, bad habits rearing their ugly heads, family and friends shaking their heads at me... Connecting with others who have successfully dealt with all this and more would be great.
I think maybe raw food restaurants make the mistake of putting out the "new age" vibe with their marketing/image. Why not make a raw food joint as approachable as a local burger stand? It sounds like it's not for a lack of flavour. Is there not some way to make a franchise of real, raw "fast food"? Preferably local? Maybe even organic? McRaw. I'm lovin' it. While I don't necessarily agree with McFranchising anything, it seems to be the way of the world. Why not edge in sideways, get 'em hooked? It certainly would be a nice option to have around here.

I'm trying to remember the name of that movie...where the guy and the girl go out to dinner and they each think the other is vegetarian but neither one is? They go to an all-raw restaurant and are gagging on the "bread", which is a yeast dough ball. It certainly doesn't do much to encourage anyone to try a raw restaurant! LOL

I have several friends from Windsor. All boaters and winter in FL. Great people.
LOVE the trivia that Windsor, CANADA is south of Detroit, lol.
