This may be pure coincidence, but ever since I started drinking the green smoothies, I've had horrible pain in my lower left side. I tried not drinking them anymore and a month later, it's still there. I've had ultrasounds, pelvic exams, blood tests, CT scan, MRI and nothing. Now I'm scheduled for a flex-sigmoidoscopy next week.
I'm very frustrated, because 2 months ago I started green smoothies for breakfast, making sure I ate no processed foods, all whole grains and very minimal meat. (I'm not raw yet, but it is my goal for the future) and now I have these problems. Previous to this, I havent been to the doctor since I was a little kid. I cant imagine eating better can make you sick, but I'm lost as to where to turn. It's been 2 months I've been in pain and have been passed through dr to dr and am exhausted emotionally.

It's likely a coincidence. At least all the tests you've had so far have shown no problem. Good luck with it.

Ditto.
Personally, I would not stop drinking the green smoothies. Hang in there and try to not give up.
I hope you feel better soon and get the problem ruled out.

Could you describe the pain more? Is it near the surface like a muscle cramp or deeper? Constant or comes and goes? Throbbing or aching?
I do hope you feel better. Have you tried a colonic? Maybe the pain is in your colon. The greens could have started to clean out your colon but not finished the job, causing pain.

rawstrength, exactly what my first thought was.
Green smoothies are like a broom that goes through and softens and cleans, softens and cleans.
The colon is located there and it could be simply doing its job, causing some pain along the way.
For me, seeing any doctor would cause all kinds of pain. I trust raw to do its job and I stay out of the doctors. But thats just me.
Be well and feel better soon..ok.

I third the theory that it's your colon. You might have interrupted the cleaning out of your colon..it could be a mass of waste matter there. I would go back to the smoothies and maybe add some aloe juice to the mix it has a gentle cleansing effect. Would you consider having a colonic or an enema? How SAD was your diet before?

It's like a stabbing, almost twisting pain in my lower left side. Along with that, sometimes its more of a burning pain on the left side of my pubic bone. Normally, I wouldnt go to the dr and just let it go, but I'm afraid of it being gynecological related. That's been "ruled out" though ...argh I'm frustrated. :(

For this flex-sigmoidoscopy that I have to have, I'm supposed to give myself 2 enemas previous to going. My diet wasn't that awful before - mostly organic, very little meat (no red meat at all), no processed foods. I have been gradually introducing more things. Now I refuse to eat fast food (before did very rarely) So nothing huge and drastic. I will say though that I rarely ate fruits and never vegetables before.

Ugh, sounds awful. Some quick thoughts...be sure to keep your water intake high (ie half your weight in ounces or more) and not be taking things like psyllium husk or other fiber supplements, just keep it natural with fresh fruits and greens. Also be sure to rotate those greens (ie no kale for weeks in a row). If you haven't been tested for parasites yet, would be good. It sounds to me like you may just be processing some majorly impacted matter, which will eventually be fabulous! Sucks to be going through it though. Keep an eye on your waste matter. If you start seeing something that looks like bicycle tire rubber, you are definitely getting rid of some old baggage! You might want to check out the book, The Cure by Timothy Brantley.

Parasites? As in? How? GROSS! I was using spinach for about 4-5 weeks and not rotating...but I wasnt using a huge amount - probably 1/2 cup if that and only once a day and a Magic Bullet blender size cup.
