I am new to this site and This is my second attempt at the living foods lifestyle and I am on day 3...feeling pretty good and slept like a baby last night. My reasons for doing this is my health is not good and I am only 43 years old. I have hypothyroidism, adrenal fatique, elevated liver enzymes, migraines, and menopausal. I feel a strong desire to heal myself and love to hear about the success stories posted from those that have healed themselves....this gives me strenght. My husband is still SAD but supports my way of eating so much so he helps me with juicing and food preperation. I know to take it one day at a time and I allow my self to eat as much as I want. So, for all you that have healing stories I would love to hear about them and your journey.
Thanks,
Trish

Trish - love? Read my testimony. I was about 10 years older than you, suffering most of the same conditions and within 11 months healed/cured myself. Granted, I don't have a significant other, BUT I DO know this can be done with or without the support...
You WILL heal eating Raw. It is sooooo healing...
Happy healing to you!

Welcome back to the site, Trish.
I am still struggling with my raw journey, but there are tons of inspiring success stories here on RFT.

Thank you Veganforlife....what a wonderful story. I'm so happy for you and this gives me hope cause I too want to come off my meds and my doctor thinks I'm a tree huggin hippie with out there views but I have a deep feeling inside that what I'm doing is right for me and it's been easier this time than last year when I tried to go raw.
Thanks,
Trish

:pPfffffffffftt! On that doc! :pThat's what I say. My (so-called) specialist couldn't/wouldn't rather understand what I was eating was making me well. THEY are so brainwashed to by the power of big pharma and money and all.
We are TRULY what we eat. I would LOVE for a medical PANEL to question what I am doing...
In fact, I double dawg dare them!

Hah. I've had the same experience. My previous doctor, as well as some "medical professionals" in my family have chalked my improved skin, weight loss and lack of dependency on thyroid medicine on my "new positive mental state."
Granted, I totally believes it contributes, but it's frustrating to see how doctors and other professionals are afraid of crediting any sort of good health to nutrition.

They are not nutritionists, that is for sure. I'm a much better nutritionist than my short, fat, bald (male - sorry guys) endocrinologist - or whatever, however the hell THAT big (scary) title is spelled can ever imagine. Plus, our bodies change daily, hourly! How can a traditional, Western med work for me all the time when my body is changing? The living foods I eat? My body knows what to do with them, how to utilize them. That's the beauty of eating Raw. We are eating foods ALIVE with enzymes, so as not to have to tap into our bodies' enzyme reserve and thus our bodies can heal.
No rocket science here. No years of college, book learning needed here. Just plain common sense. Huh? What? Oh yeah, we were talking docs and yes, sadly the almighty dollah has gotten in the way of common sense...
pity...

Veganforlife did you add sea veggies to your diet? What foods did you use to help your thyroid?
Thanks,
Trish

YES! As many sea greens (veggies/weeds, whatever you wanna call 'em) as I can - DAILY! In fact I'm craving a really sea tasting green drink, which I will make this weekend. I want it to totally taste like the ocean! Salty and sea flavored! :D
I also do blue/green algae, spirulina, and dulse and kelp powders in my smoothies.
I eat ALL foods - Raw of course. Have not steered away from anything...sauerkraut? Love that even tho folks have said - oh, don't eat cabbage. Raw is fine...

Ha ha ha...I've had the same thoughts regarding my former doctor. She had me on blood pressure medication, thyroid medication, anti-depressants, etc. Every time she gave me a new medication, I developed a new "side-effect" that required more medicine. Also noteworthy was that she was extremely obese, and when I asked her practical questions, she would get very irritated with me.
When I finally went to my chiropractor for the first time and asked him for help, he said, "If you are okay with not taking pharmaceuticals and listening to what I tell you about nutrition, then you and I are going to get along beautifully." I cried like a baby in his office after that. How silly, right? But he was awesome. He's a vegan and while not totally raw, is trying to get there. He was very excited for me when I told him I had discovered raw eating...
