View Full Version : I feel like I am dying. Virus or Detox?

I've been raw for 30 and transitioning for 30 prior to that. Just to give the timeline.

Tuesday night I began to run a fever with sweating, constipation, a headache that is localized around my left eye.

It felt like the worst hangover ever. (and I have had some doozies) It's not over yet. I'm still not at work, and it is Thursday. My sweating is decreased but I still have the terrible head/eye ache. Still feverish but lowgrade.
I have the energy to type now. And I'm think about juicing later (Just water the last two days)

Ive just been sleeping and waking every couple of hours. In my dream state I see visuals of food like cheesecake, fatty charred cuts of beef, flan. It makes me feel worse.

People are encouraging me to go to the doctor (sinus? bronchitis) but if it is viral I don't want to take any medicines. And if it is a healing crisis I especially don't.

How can you tell? I am never sick, so this is scaring me.

thank you.

I had experience these same symptons more than once for an entire 4 days recently (see previous post). In fact, today is the second time I felt really good since going Raw. I am heading towards my 2nd month.

Hang in there. Don't give up.

I had a very bad first 4 weeks. I'm now at 6 weeks raw. I felt as if I had the flu. I was nausous, headache over my eyes. My throat had tonsil stones in it. My ears hurt. It lasted quite sometime but I knew in my own body what it was. It was DETOX for sure. It took me a good two hard hard weeks to transition and still now I will wake up feeling nausous for no apparent reason. It is remarkably better. Knowing the detox I went though makes me know for certain this is the way to go in life. Seeing what SAD food has done to promote this detox will be a constant reassurance that once your over this hump you won't go back. Hang in there. It does get better. I thought I never would but I did and I'm reaping the rewards of raw now.

I too have been under the weather, but was on a commercial flight last Thursday pm. Symptoms started late Friday. Something tells me that it is just not simply detox, but something in the canned airplane air (virus germs from other passengers!) in addition to helping a friend move (all the dust & gunk under furniture & stuff and fur from her cat)...I am still congested, but feel a bit better (less EXHAUSTED)...ugh!

This sickness I am not attributing to detox...

Either way - hot epsom salt baths will help, i think. Helps to break the feverish aspects - especially chills, and congestion too. When I am ill or feeling very low energy - I don't let my hair get wet at all - seems to challenge the system for me. But a nice hot bath with the epsom slats will relax and sooth the body. Soak soak soak - then crawl into bed for a nap.

Although we can weather a mild fever very well - if the fever is high - be more careful!

Also - if it was detoxing - water fasting would make it more intense. Although I am in favor of listening to the body - if it only wants water - it only wants water.

I came here to ask the same thing. I've been doing mostly raw for 3 weeks, not 100% but the vast majority of my diet is raw. I just got hit the past couple of days with severe sinus issues, my eyes hurt, I have a headache, and no energy.

I was going to try going back to green smoothies and see if I can kick this funk. Oh and I started exercising, so I don't know if that kicked up some toxins and sped up detox?

I'm going to go take a nap with the baby, lol

Sorry you feel bad. I would say detox and ride it out. Look for anti viral stuff just to be sure..lotsa garlic...elderberries...apple cider vinegar...
Feel better and please dont worry, that hurts more than helps. Pulling for you sweets.

I went through some of the same detox symptoms. I did the empson salt baths followed by showers to wash off the toxins. I do the nasal cleansing with a neti pot and saline-soda solution every morning which helps with the allergy type symptoms and clears the head. I tried to at least get smoothies down with some spinach thrown in for protein. Mainly banana, almond milk, frozen blueberries, spinach, cinnamon, vanilla. There are spices such as cinnamon and tumeric which help cleanse the blood, etc. so you might look into that also to help.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I ate SAD yesterday at lunch and immediately felt horrible so that wasn't the answer. Raw is worth the transition for sure.

Thank you for the great advice and well wishes. I've been doing the neti and the epsom salts as well. Interestingly, I feel worse at total rest than I do when I'm at least sitting up and reading or typing.

I'm eating a little fruit.

and oh, man, tmi, i know, but my bm smells like satan's butt.

That cinches it, then. Detox.
That smelly stuff is LEAVING! This is a GOOD thing! :)

Drink lots of water. Do some gentle exercise (got a rebounder?). Maybe take some probiotics. If you want to hurry that icky stuff out, have some laxative tea in the evening, and do a Salt Water Flush in the morning... just to clear it faster. :p
