Hi fellow raws! A bit of history and re-introduction!

Some of you know me, I've been a user around here for a while. I'm vegan and I've been 100% Raw during around 6 months. I was from Chicago (if you remember me you know) And I stepped down to cooked vegan because the groceries are so expensive in Chicago (My wife and I, both raw vegans and only members of the household, spending like $900 a month in food...) and we never went fancy. In addition, it was impossible to eat out as a raw vegan (the vegan places were not raw friendly) Also, the bad weather and the chill... dropped my loyalty to raw foodism so low that we both stepped down (A trip to Spain overkilled it, not our veganism though)

We moved to Sunny California (yaaaaaaaaay!!!!) With a lot of stuff, including some weight gained when we left raw foodism... Now, this is another world so we want to go raw again, very hight raw. Everything is easier here and you can even eat out as a raw vegan!!!

Well, the purpose of this post is about running (which is what has go here and not the bulky wording I just threw) I like to exercise and I love fitness machines such as the bike and cross trainer. But I like more the sun... and when we get back to raw, I will like it even more.
The beach is very close and is good to exercise there (and free) There is a problem. I do not like running, but I know is the best thing to do... very healthy and calorie burning.
I read somewhere there is a website that helps you to train, to get use to running, etc.

Do you know such web? Do you have tips for this? I'm a bit overweight (I'm a guy 5'11'' with 210 pounds) I plan to run in bare foot, in the coast. So I will be basically running over soft sand. If I overheat, well... water is within inches

Help please!

Welcome to Calli........Keep Movin, don't let the Couch turn you into a Potato. Run with your Favorite Music. When you began RUN,..... when you get tired, Walk. Use land Mark and always try to Run a little farther the next time. Don't listen to yourself when you come up with an excuse not to Run. Make yourself get out there. Do a 5K Run/Walk.

Percy-
The best thing you can do to get to love running is to run as frequently as you can--even if it is 5 minutes--the soft tissue in your body needs to get used to the stress. Run frequently but short distances and your body will adapt. I never thought I'd run more than 5-6 miles and now I race marathons and Ironman triathlons. Try 5-6 days a week; alternating 5 to 15 minutes thrown into a 30 minute total workout (the rest walking). This will keep you from getting injured. You can do anything for 5 minutes. The hardest thing is getting out the door.
Good luck
