I bought kombucha at my health food store which just recently started selling it. I really like it and decided to try making a small batch.

I used a 1 liter wine pitcher I think it is, I used so called "raw" cane sugar, and about a 1:4 ratio of black to green tea. I let it cool then poured a bottle of the store bought kombucha in it. The pitcher has a fairly narrow top, will that be a problem?

I also have no idea if the kombucha I bought is raw or not, the bottle doesn't say, it's made by "Kombucha Wonder Drink Co.

Thanks

Well I just read on their website FAQ:

WHAT EFFECTS DOES PASTEURIZING HAVE ON THE KOMBUCHA CULTURE?
The benefits of Kombucha are in the acids that are created during fermentation. These acids help detoxify your body and are not affected by pasteurizing.

Aside from being BS by claiming pasteurizing doesn't affect it, I guess that means I wasted my time and money?

Just FYI, I've seen kombucha starter mushrooms for sale on etsy.com for about $10 (if Alissa sells them, someone pls let me know...I didn't see them on her store). I've been thinking of trying one. Pls continue to post how your kombucha adventures go.
