View Full Version : Raw in Europe?

I'm planning to visit London and Paris in June. I'm just 90 days raw and thought I'd start worrying way in advance about what I'm going to do. I really don't see me bringing my Vitamix over. (I probably couldn't even plug it in, right?!) I would be happy enough to eat fruit for breakfast and salads for lunch or dinner, but that still leaves dressing! And some in between times. Has anyone done this? (Like no one has, right?) Would anyone have any suggestions? I'm just so used to taking my food with me so that I can be in control. I feel nervous about leaving empty-handed.
Thanks,

London will not be too bad as there is a restaurant that serves raw but Paris will not have anything and you will also have the language problem.
I would bring a lot of Lara Bars if I was making that trip. At least you will know that you will not be hungry.
I would also pack a ceramic knife to use to peel and chop fruit in my hotel room.

i am also going to europe in the summer. alls i'm bringing is a knife. they have fruits and veggies all over the world. i just eat whole foods. i'm not worried. i've seen movies, they have fruit stands and stuff. ;) just make due with what is there. you don't NEED to have dressing on a salad. i never put them on mine.

You will not have a problem finding fresh raw food in London, there are loads of supermarkets such as tesco, sainsbury's and markets which will have a good fruit and veg selection. There are also some raw restaurants.
However, the French are very fond of their bakeries and pancake stands etc., I was over in Lyon, just before I became vegan, a couple of years back, and all I was eating was bread rolls and ice cream! But, I was unhealthy anyway.
But, I'm sure if you look you will find some fruit stores, they have to get their greens somewhere.
Happy holidaying!

there are a lot of salads in france. you can order them "sans sauce" - without dressing - because the dressings tend to be creamy. lots of fresh stuff at the markets too.

Ha ha...have fun trying to board the plane! :p
Great attitude, though. I don't have any travel plans as of yet; but I'm really trying to prepare myself to be more dedicated to eating raw!

Hah...dressing is the easy part! Just ask for a lemon and a little cold press extra virgin olive oil! Or even mash up some avocado and thin it out with lemon for a creamier dressing...
My mouth is watering thinking about it....
I tend to lurk about these forums more so when I'm in the midst of a water fast (which I am...again).
Yum...a crisp salad with a tart fresh dressing would really hit the spot right now.

Hi,
I was in Swizerland for Six months. In Lausanne (french speaking area) they have a farmers Market to die for every tuesday and Saturday the streets are filled with Local Produce some are Biologic (organic). It was amazing the whole down town was full with venders leading up to the big commons area. Even though it was March and still cold they had all different types of vegeatables and fruits, plus they had stands with dried fruits (loved the strings of dried figs yum).
Paris is alot bigger than lausanne so i wouldnt worry. Stay away from the bakeries though, they are tempting and so cute.

Don't eat Iraqi dates, if they are still available, because of possible Depleted Uranium contamination.

We have them too. Twice a week. Don't you have them in the US? Just curious

I suppose it's where you're located, even here in the US. We have "Farmer's Markets" but when you get there and look at a lot of the produce, it has the little "Sunkist" or other "brand" name stickers on it. It appears as though some of these vendors just obtained their produce from wholesalers. I don't think these vendors should be allowed in, but not sure what can be done about it, if anything. So disappointing. We recently moved to North Carolina, and this is what I've seen in Farmer's Market's in Charlotte and Greensboro. Prior to that, I was in the Akron/Cleveland area of Ohio and I could never find farmer's markets.
In the summer, I like to find little roadside stands and buy my produce there. This year, however, I am attempting to grow my own.

Same here too. That's why I never go there.I think the *real* f.m-s don't exist anymore. Growing your own stuff is definitely the best thing to do.

You are right. I haven't made new pictures yet. That was while I was eating non-RAW-food.
Do you think I should have smiled at this time?
But I promise a before and after picture soon with me, smiling.
