I had been about 80% percent Raw since November 2006 and I finally decided to go completely raw. I have been 100% Raw since February 11th, 2009. In between this time frame, every occasion I attempted to go 100% Raw for a month to three months, I tended to experience extreme detox symptoms. The first time I was hospitalized twice with ammonia, and this time I have been sick almost every weekend since going 100%.

Sometimes I think it is Detox and other times I think it is stems from eating non-Organic Fruits. I was severely ill with a swollen throat about two weeks ago after eating several non-Organic Grapes (from Whole Foods). Now this week, I have been plagued with dizzy spells and extreme sluggishness.

Thank you . . .

It probably is detox. Just hang on and ride it out if possible. I rarely have detox symptoms stronger than just that achy flu-like feeling. Good luck!

If money is a concern as it is for me. I shop for on sale Items every week on Wednesday because it's double discount days at several stores with organic selections. I buy the dirty dozen only organic and will buy things like bananas, oranges and pineapple non-organic. Detox can be very bad but if you have had prior health issues it resurfaces in what is called retracing. This is the process of detox from past illnesses and issues. Hope you feel better.

I second gritsnla...it sounds very much like detox. When I stay on a raw diet for any extended period of time, I start to break out and/or experience flu-like symptoms.

I don't credit the lack of organic produce, because I still eat non-organic raw fruits and veggies when I have eaten cooked food, yet I don't experience overt "sickness" feelings that I have when I'm actually detoxing.
