Everything I can think of is either a sweet fruit, garden fruit, root, or leaf. I can't think of any vegetables.

I thought beets, radishes, and carrots were roots, and peppers and tomatoes are fruit. No? Would a fungus be a vegetable? Those are the things that I could have called vegetables before, but now I'm not sure. Or do you just call the roots 'root vegetables'? I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'm curious.

They are called root vegetables. Leafy greens are vegetables. Things like cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes are technically fruits but eaten as vegetables. Mushrooms are a fungi but also treated as vegetables. Why does it matter?

eggplant
That has seeds so it's a fruit
green beans [...] squash.
Squash is a fruit, and green beans are also a fruit or legume.
Colored Peppers, Tomatoes, Mushrooms
Peppers and tomatoes are fruits and mushrooms are a fungus.

It all gets eaten, so to me it doesn't matter...
it's like asking why the sky is blue...

It doesn't actually matter as far as what I eat, but I was terribly curious when I began thinking about it.

Ok, well potatoes and carrots and anything that grows underground are called "root vegetables". Tomatoes and cucumbers are technically fruits - but they are not sweet and are eaten and often grouped as Vegetables.
I'm pretty sure you could find that on google. Besides, not a whole lot of people will get into what vegetable groups there are. But for the record, what I've told you, is right as far as I know.

just think of males and females.
fruits are females
veggies are males
fruits have seeds inside the womb.
veggies grow the seeds on the outside.
Not sure what celery is but its one of my favs with cashew cheese, dips, and in green smoothies and juices. Someone posted a pic of raw fried okra in the pic thread. It would go nicely with some raw creamed corn. Im a southern girl:D

:D I was thinking about my answer today at lunch and remembered that eggplant has seeds in it. It's so funny I didn't think of it before. Maybe because i don't eat eggplant
