Oprah was all about fresh fruits and veggies making a dramatic difference in many many lives.
I live where today's program will be aired again in about six hours. This is something to check out. :D

it's too bad she keeps having weight issues and isn't able to take the plunge and take control. I couldn't live like that, all those stars who get so skinny and then pile it back on. I couldn't do that to myself.

I think you have to put it into the perspective that many people who have weight issues have an actual problem, an addiction like any other. After I lost my first 80 lbs it was very easy for me to say "I'll never put myself through that again," but here I am. Going down the same path. For people who have a real weight issue that is part psychological it really isn't that easy. Easy to say we could never let it happen again to us, but its a battle like anything else in life.

Oprah has a higher purpose than to just lose weight. At least she's constantly getting the message out about eating healthier and other healthy habits. I couldn't imagine doing all that she does and being able to perfectly take care of herself. She does her best and is always conscious of what she does wrong and keeps trying to improve. That's more than most are willing to do. She's beautiful and amazing regardless.

I ditto your sentiments. Plus some of us have legitimate physiological issues that compound the matter as well.

This is the second or third time i've seen this.
I agree that she needs to work with a counselor before she works with a dieting program.

i heard that getting over an eating disorder is more difficult then getting over an heroine addiction.
i can see how that would be really.
getting over a heroine addiction is glamourous. getting over an eating disorder is shunned and shameful.
i wonder how oprah will represent the raw vegan community, if at all.

I love Oprah, imperfections and all!
Great to hear she has a show like this. It wont be perfect obviously, but it'll probably make a lot of people sit up and take notice of fresh fruits and veg, as we all want them to do!
Any step Oprah goes in the right direction makes me happy as she influences so many people!

I don't think Oprah gave a damn about health. I think she is one of those people to lose weight in order to look good as a celebrity, but deep down inside, they were not celebrities where they MUST FEEL THE OBLIGATION to follow Hollywood's ideals of beauty...they would allow themselves to be as fat and obese as everyone else, because they love the SAD food that they eat.
Oprah yo-yos, because she wants to look good for the camera and eat her cake too by eating SAD. People like her realize that you can live two lifestyles at once...be skinny yet want to eat fatty foods at the same time. You just have to sacrifice one or the other.

Oprah is Living her Best Life, no matter what weight she is. It's her Struggle or Glory. She's Grown and knows what to do and has every aid at her hand. Didn't YA'll hear her say she was dealing with a Thyroid problem, even though it's ok now, I have heard it can still Flair up.
She keeps the Nation informed about a lot of health issues that you would not hear about. So STOPP H -A- T- ing and keep your RAW Garden going.

Herion addictions are not glam unless you are in the media spinning rock stars as such...and coming from Seattle and seeing the destruction of several very talented musicians from it, its die alone in a room with a bloody needle and possibly a gun next to your head lonely- only glam cuz the media makes it so.
Hell Layne from Alice in Chains was dead for days before he was found. Thats horrible, not glamourous.
I know several people that have had these issues and they cannot just glam it. Esp when you have kids and are trying to make a regular life. SO I do agree food addictions can be just as hard, but all addictions are horrible, demoralising, lonely affairs, that only the addict really knows the full weight of. Its not an excuse- I am not excusing addictions that cause harm to peoples families, etc- just saying- its not glamourous by a long shot.

dear raw friends...
this is not about oprah... she is the messenger.
the information here was compelling, powerful, informative and because the message was delivered on her show millions of people have better information.
i was interested to see the older couple who eat 90% raw speak to their improved vitality and overall joy. they are a living testimony to this green life. xox

I'm sorry I didn't get to see that show. Thanks anyway, lodestar. :) At least I heard about it. And I'm sure we will be hearing more and more about it as healthy raw food choices become more mainstream over the next decade. :D
