So every Sunday I make a big batch of bars for the week. I have been having so much fun with this. Last week I made granola bars that tasted better than any SAD granola bar I have ever had. This week I made goji chocolate bars. MMMH. They last me all week as a snack and people at work always have the 'i want to eat what you are eating' look.. teehee.
I don't follow recipes.. just throw stuff into a bowl, mix, form onto teflex and dehydrate... :D

that's a great idea!
hey, i know you wrote that you don't follow a recipe, but what is your "base" for a granola bar? when i make my "energy bars" i usually use a base of nuts and dried fruit. do you use sprouted buckwheat or something different?

No prob! I use a base of raw rolled oats usually. Then I add in whatever, like sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins, agave. Yum

Thanks so much for this idea...can you give me one recipe that you make for bars..I know you say you just throw some things in a bowl..but like the granola one or something - so I can get an idea and make some instead of buying them and do you put them in dehydrator or frig to harden a bit?
Thanks!!

OK.. if i had to guesstimate I would say I use about 2 cups of raw rolled oats, 1/2 cup of raisins, 1/2 cup sunflower seeds/almonds, some coconut flakes, maybe some cinnamon and a dash of sea salt. Then I add enough agave to get it to all stick together but not too much to oversweeten it. I form it into a big square and dehydrate overnight. Then I cut it into granola bars the next day.

Where do you get "raw" oatmeal?? Are those oat groats I've been reading about here?

the idea of making bars a week in advance. Especially for taking to work! Have been trying to figure out how to eat at work, since nothing there is raw. So far I've come up with putting my huge crazy salads in a large plastic container that once held, I am sorry to say, whipped cream topping.
I don't measure anything either when it comes to making sutff, just toss it all in there, taste test as I go. Sometimes I'm full by the time the dish is ready! :)
