Hi

I have been checking in here to read every day. I have tried to go raw many times in last few months and keep falling off due to sugar binges (lots of them that last a while). I have fought my sugar addiction for over 15 years now yet few know about my problem. I am a fitness instructor, lively and everyone thinks I have got my stuff together but if they knew the real me...... I want this hiding, depression, food obsession, brain strain to be OVER!!!

So...................to make it real I am posting it here!! Day one of my 30 day challenge begins tomorrow and I know it will be a challenge as during that time I am going home to my family for 5 days (away from all my utensils and shops I know) plus doing a 3 day live in course with shared food.

If not now then when!! I have been putting this off for too long and for the sake of the person I am meant to be, for my 2 year old daughter and for the lives I touch every day I NEED to do this.

Please I would love any support and also anyone wanting to be raw buddy would be much appreciated.

From way DownUnder (Albury Australia) thanks for being a part of this forum and I look forward to reading and learning more each day.

Bronnie

P.S. I have Alissa's book (great) and a dehydrator.

Congrats Bronnie on your committment to be raw. I started one year ago today (August 1st) ... and have managed to stay 100% raw for one whole year. How? ONE day at a time. If necessary, break it down to one-half day at a time ... or one hour at a time. They add up, and before you know it, its a week, a month, etc etc.

When you are around something that is soooo tempting -- put off eating it for an hour, or 1/2 hour, or 15 minutes ... and in that time, eat something you really like that's raw first. It'll help you stay on track. Always have something with you to eat ... ALWAYS.

You can do this. !!! Your body will love you for it ... YOU will love you for it. Good luck .. enjoy the journey.

Yep, Alissa's book is great! Heaps of stuff to choose from ... the date nut torte is beautiful!

btw - I used to live in Nelson Bay, NSW ... (I'm back in Missouri USA now). Whereabouts is Albury?

Thanks for the support

Albury is on the Murray River - on the state border between NSW and Victoria about 500km inland from the east coast. It has a compbined population of 90 000 between Albury and its sister town Wodonga on the other side of the river.

I liked your advice - one day at a time, putting off temptation - thanks!!

Thanks Revell for teh buddy link - will check it out.

Day one here I go. I have decided I will allow myself steamed greens as a way to keep up my greens as I don't like many of them raw. Will see how I go - if it leads me astray I will drop them out too.

The beginning of freedom - yippee!!!!

Hi squidly. That is great. I am from meadowbank, sydney, australia. Living on living foods is the only way to live, at least as far as food goes.

Hi Sean Lee

I was raised in Sydney mostly around Eastwood / Marsfield area (mum still there - rest of the family in Hunters Hill) so know exactly where you are. I will actually be there in a couple of weeks - doing my best to stay raw while staying with my family - I am the black sheep of my family but I notice they asked me for some recipes the other day as my dad has celiacs, my brother juvenile diabetes, my step mother many problems and my mum type II diabetes. Maybe one day they will come round to a healthier lifestyle - my brother is on the way but won't give up meat as he beleives he needs it for his weight lifting and he is a personal trainer - have sent him many links to show him raw athletes.

Anyway enough of the ramble - great to speak to someone from down under!! Do you every check out the rawpleasure.com boards - Aussie raw website?

Have a great day

hi, I live with two others and I am the black sheep in the house.Although my wife does make me juices for breakfast sometimes,if I don't beat her to it, and salads for dinner if need be, so she is very good in that area. I did check out some sites here in sydney but this is the one I like the best and is helping me alot on my journey.

In Boutenko's book, 12 Steps to Raw Food, she says that sweet cravings can be a desire for calcium. Her solution is to make a sesame seed milk (she prefers using the hulled for the less bitter taste) in the morning. I think I also read wheatgrass is also a solution.
