I've been thinking about and talking about trying raw for quite a long time. Today I finally started. My goal is 30 days. If I love it, which I hope, I will stick with it, if not, at least I TRIED and then I'll know.

Just got home from Whole Foods, never shopped there before but wow it's awesome! It took me a while to find stuff but mostly because I didn't know what some things would look like. I also got help from a worker there, which is hard to find in Albertson's. Although looking over my receipt they did double charge me for an item :( And I accidentally bought granny smith apples but that was my fault.

Anyway as soon as I got home I tried a sprouted bagel, something I was really excited about because I do love bagels and they looked really yummy. I was amazed. It was better than a regular bagel. I got Alvarado brand onion poppy bagels. YUM! I couldn't even wait for it to thaw all the way :)

I also tried the goji berries since the cashier made a comment they were bitter - but I thought they were yummy! I wanted more after I ate a few! Can't wait to try them with something.

I'm really feeling good about this, now to find the food processor I know we have and see if it will be of any use :)

Oh I also picked up a book, Ani's Raw Food Kitchen. B&N had quite a few raw books but this was the nicest one I felt I could afford, I really liked reading it so far.

I've posted a few times but just to remind you ;) I am Jesi, live in Texas with DH and my dog Sadie and two cats. The pets have been on a raw prey-model diet for almost a year. I initially looked into raw for me because I have fibromyalgia and I have heard it really helps with stuff like that. Also I want to be healthy (hopefully loose weight) and have more energy.

Thanks!!

I'm so excited for you.....btw, you'll love Ani's book...try the cheesecake recipe. I usually only make half. Alissa's book isn't in the bookstores but you can get it on her website. It is my #1 favorite and Ani's is also a favorite. Good Luck!

Congrats! Be sure to look around at different super markets--I often find that wholefoods is more expensive than it needs to be. Also, sprouted bagels that you buy are not usually raw, but they are a good transition in the right direction.

Keep up the good work and that enthusiasm will help you a lot in the right direction. Looking forward to sharing your journey with you!

Yeah I got a list of foods from a website that is for transitioning, I figured it was better than trying to do anything really complicated like that myself right now. It's got to be better than a cheese bagel with butter and cream cheese, which is what I would have for a bagel.

Today has been no problem so far - because I had the day off work :D Tomorrow I have to work for about 5 hours and it's right over dinner time. I'm going to take some food with me since I always get hungry while I'm there.

Thanks again for all your replies! :)

Well I gave in and did have a soda today, my head just hurt so bad I knew the caffeine would help. It's better than 10-12 I usually have.

Also I was unable to find the ingredients for raw salad dressings I wanted to try so I have been using regular dressing but just a little bit.

Tomorrow will be hard. I'm meeting a bunch of friends at a restaurant. And they're getting one of my all time favorite junk foods. But I did two days already, with the bread and dressings I've done about 80% raw these two days. I'm very proud of myself. So I'm going to use that momentum to keep me going tomorrow.
