I'm taking Bentonite liquid and was wondering if I could continue this through a fast?
I also have supplements that I take - should I discontinue these during the fast as well? Or what if I opened up the pills and only added them to my water?
Thanks again all who answer :)

I asked such similar questions before my second fast. The responses I got back were actually a bit frustrating...mostly along the lines of, there are no rules, you just figure out what works for you, etc. I wanted a prescribed path! Haha. So I decided to embark on a juice fast that included lots of nutritive teas, bentonite, psyillium, and supplements ike liquid chlorophyll (I still had scary memories of the all-consuming hunger of my first fast and wated the reassurance that I would still have plenty to 'consume').
Well, that lasted about 5 days and I realised I needed to lessen my intake and go very very simple (striving for water only but didn't last long).
That whole fast taught me more than I ever imagined about how I might want to fast in the future. I would never had learned that if I had followed everyone elses ideas rather than the trial and error of what ended up becoming an incredible experience. Everyone elses journeys are great sources of ideas and inspiration, but I think we become limited if we start using outside ideologies and practices for our own fasts.
Have no bloody idea if this is helpful at all to you...but I hope so!
ETA: You ask the very simple question of if taking the clay couts as breaking the fast. Depends on what YOUR own idea of a fast is, and what is right for your body. Personally, if I were to take the clay, I would consider it a cleanse rather than a fast. But ask 20 other people and they may have very different answers. Does it really matter, in the long run? I think is is a matter of pedantics. Try it out and see how it feels! Then try fasting without it. Which works for you?

I guess I phrased the question wrong, but thanks so much for your reply :)
When you go into a fast and are in fasting mode, your digestive system is shut down allowing that energy to be used for cleansing and healing your body. (From what I've been told by others on here at any rate)
So, if you take something such as clay or supplements, does this reactivate your digestive system thereby ending the fast?
Not so much a matter of how I feel or what works for me, just a straight out 'does it reactivate that which I need to be dormant' type question I guess :).
Thanks again Azaria and to all those who answer :)

many people take clay while fasting... it does not break your fast. ;)
supplements... i'm not really sure as i don't do them myself. i do know however that taking MSM, lysine or cascara sagrada do not break my fast. (start up the digesting process)... as far as i can tell.
hope that assists ya. and yup... i agree with az... you gotta discover it for yourself. try keeping it in your fast and removing it. see how you feel... how your body feels. experiment. after all... what works for you may not work for someone else.

Can you tell me what the purpose of liquid clay is? I've never heard of it.

Can you tell me what the purpose of liquid clay is? I've never heard of it.
Liquid bentonite for elimination
Taken internally, liquid bentonite supports the intestinal system in the elimination of toxins. Liquid bentonite is inert which means it passes through the body undigested.
Bentonite clay is made up of a high number of tiny platelets, with negative electrical charges on their flat surfaces and positive charges on their edges.
When bentonite clay absorbs water and swells up, it is stretched open like a highly porous sponge. Toxins are drawn into these spaces through electrical attraction and bound. In fact, according to the Canadian Journal of Microbiology (2), bentonite clay can reportedly absorb pathogenic viruses, as well as herbicides and pesticides. The bentonite is eventually eliminated from the body with the toxins bound to its multiple surfaces.
Bentonite clay and diarrhea
In his book "The Clay Cure" (3), Ran Knishinsky discusses how diarrhea can be remedied through the use of bentonite clay because of its ability to bind stools. Bentonite clay can take effect right away by binding to irritants in the gastrointestinal tract. It's a good idea to mix the bentonite clay with 1 cup of applesauce, which not only makes the clay more palatable, but also adds pectin, which is another binding agent.
Bentonite has many uses
Bentonite is used in pharmaceuticals, medical and cosmetics markets. Bentonite is used as a filler in pharmaceutical drugs, and due to its absorption-adsorption capabilities, it allows paste formation. Bentonite is used in industrial protective creams, wet compresses, and anti-irritant lotions for eczema. In medicine, bentonite is used as an antidote in heavy metal poisoning. Personal care products such as mud packs, baby powder, sunburn paint, and face creams may contain bentonite.
How to take the bentonite
The best way to drink bentonite is on an empty stomach, or at least 1 hour before or after meals. Bentonite typically is available as a thick tasteless grey gel, but it also comes encapsulated, as well as in powder form.
It is generally advisable to start with 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay daily, mixed with a small amount of juice. Pay attention to the results for a week, then gradually increase the dosage to no more than 4 tablespoons daily, in divided doses.
Drinking bentonite clay should be part of your regular colon cleansing regimen. You will benefit from greater assimilation because of the bentonite clay's action as an intestinal cleanser and gastrointestinal regulator. As your body "cleans house", it is in a better position to more efficiently assimilate the nutrients it needs, whether those nutrients come from your healing diet, vegetable juicing or cod liver oil and any other supplements.
Have you ever eaten too many seeds or nuts and gotten sick? This is a natural defense system of the food you are eating. In order to preseve itself, you will begin to feel sick if eating too much of a certain type of food. Animals are also affected by this. But since clay is such an excellent absorber of all things toxic, they eat clay while eating the fruit or seeds, and this pulls out all the toxins that is normally generated by the plant to preserve itself, allowing the animal (Or you) to keep eating without getting sick.
This was especially useful when no other food source was available and these animals needed to keep eating for energy.
It has also been shown to help in chemotherapy as clay can help remove radioactive particles from the body. Add clay to boost your overall health, longevity and happiness!

That is one of the primary things I'll be taking - MSM. Do you actually keep them in pill form or break them open and just add the powder to your water when fasting?
I was going to do that, but I figure it'll be less of a pain if I can take them whole, with the caps intact, but keep the digestive system shut down.
If not I'll just resort to opening them and adding them to a shot of water or juice or something. Maybe some Vodka. Yeah, my body would LOVE that on a fast.

I do it every day just as a preventative - like you said, the toxins we have in us just from living in society is amazing.
Chemicals in the air, in your house, coming from your air conditioning, from the city, even from the bed you sleep in at night all have fumes and toxicity that your body absorbs then is forced to expel.
This helps with that process :)
