hello...I'm starting the 30 day raw challenge today (since it is just past midnight ). I've done some short term raw "diets" in the past but haven't been ready to commit to a lifestyle change. Now I am beginning that journey in earnest. I could really use some advice on how to handle going out to restaurants and traveling. Those have been my sticking points in the past as I do some traveling with my job. Also, how do you handle getting together with relatives at the holidays who are not raw (as if those family get togethers aren't challenging enough!)? Wish me luck...tomorrow (err, I guess I mean today) I'm either throwing out or donating all of my "cooked, canned, and non-raw dried" foods. I've chosen this month to begin as I don't have to do much in the way of traveling for at least 30 days. Here's to a new me in August! Thanks...

Going out and traveling ~ Bring your own food. Keep a cooler in your care. Always have something on hand. Find recipes for ease ~ such as a raw fudge or cookie recipes so that when you run out, you'll be able to make them in a few minutes. (well, dehydrating cookies is a good thing although, not necessary.) Know that whatever you make raw pie crusts with can also be made into cookies ~ and vice versa.

Find easy entrees. Make food twice a week which will last 3-4 days so you don't spend a whole lot of time in the kitchen.

Most of all, keep fresh fruits on hand for eating as is, smoothies, and/or juicing. Keep frozen bananas in the fridge for easy 'nana ice cream.

Make eating a celebration and feel free to play with your food.

I appreciate your support. Doing well today. So far a smoothie for breakfast, large salad for lunch, and a very busy schedule have kept me on track. I have to figure something interesting and fun for supper....

I appreciate the suggestions for restaurant and travel. This is where I'm going to have to be prepared and creative!

Thanks again!

Firstly there's a great section on traveling and staying Raw in Gabriel Cousen book " Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine " it even covers some yoga poses you can do on a plane.

As for resturants - cut, copy amend the following to suit your tastes and then print off a few copies, use as required.

Until the book arrives, you can search this site and others for simple very flavorful recipes. Just try not to make it complicated - that adds stress which leads to anxiety, which leads to failure. That was my mistake anyway. Enjoy what you are eating and take joy in the simplicity of it all.

Best wishes,
Anna
