I would like to know. I have a few tablespoons of Olive Oil left and a half a jar of Coconut Oil. Within a month they should be all used up. I wonder if I can survive not buying bottle oils, but rely on nuts and seeds to provide that for my diet.

My boyfriend and I don't use oils in anything. We eat avocados, nuts, seeds and nut butters. My boyfriend will average 10% fat a day and I would be probably 10-15% fat a day. Some reason its harder for me to stay away from the avocados/nuts and seeds.
Months ago (6+ months ago) we both had low vit E. We supplemented for a bit then stopped and they are back to normal. We are eating a little more fat than 6+ months ago though but like to keep fat to a minimal.
What do use the olive oil and coconut oil for?

Olive oil to use on my salads, but since I am trying to have a mostly Green + Fruit smoothie diet, I will be adding some oils in that to get rid of them.

I got the coconut because people said it helps with speeding up weight loss.

Yes I have heard this too. I never gave it a chance, unfortunately I had a bad reaction with it in my GS. (coconut oil)
We just use avocado for salad dressings now.

some nice (oil free) salad dressings:
celery and mango blended
celery and berries blended
tomato and celery blended
pineapple and raspberry blended

a lot of times i don't even bother with dressings. i add fruit to my leafy greens and that provides all of the flavor i could ever want!

the only time i use oil in my diet is around xmas when i might have some raw fudge or try an extra fancy dessert, but other than that i am oil free!

The way I got some of those items out of my diet was to start trying to make them last as long as possible rather then rushing to get rid of them and then making the adjustment as a sink or swim deal. If you can set them aside but choose not to use them you will not feel deprived because they are right there and you chose not to use them. Some items that I did this with I "stretched" them out so far that I threw the last out because they got old and then I gladly threw them away.

I don't use any fats in my diet other then the fats found in fresh, raw, vegan foods. Most of my fats come from avocados and young coconut.

I don't use any oil either since I'm raw and I don't miss it.

I've been using more low and non fat dressing for my salad too. This one is tangy and really good...

3-2-1 Dressing
3 T of apple cider vinegar
2 T mustard
1 T honey or agave
Blend well.

Actually, since I've been mostly raw, I've used a lot less oil, and even before, I didn't even use THAT much. I do have a bottle of good extra-virgin olive oil, and one bottle of dark sesame oil(not raw, but only gets used in tiny quantities like a seasoning, a few drops at a time). That bottle of olive oil pretty much sits these days, except for the occasional use of some when making certain dehydrator cracker or bread recipes. But if there is a way to leave it out of a particular recipe, I do so. Just about all of my fat, like others have posted here come from raw vegan foods like avocadoes(huge fan of these, but I limit to maybe 2 per week)and small quantities of raw nuts, some seeds, and very small quantities of nut butters like raw tahini and almond butter. I love all of these, but do really parcel them out, and that will likely get to be more the case as my diet evolves. With my salads, often I just have some chopped tomatoes and a squirt of lemon juice - what could be easier than that? Only once in awhile do I have a salad with a richer dressing, and then it is a meal in itself, no crackers or anything else required as there is already the richer dressing.

YOu can use both the olive oil and coconut oil to wash and cleanse your face, look up the oil cleansing method, you can use them to do oil pulling to help detox your body, and you can use them in replacement of moisturizer if you like. I use them for all of the above, i rarely use them for anything. Sometimes flax oil a little in recipes because i hate the taste of olives.

Hi Veronica01! Good points about using the olive oil and coconut oil externally. I use the olive oil to remove any makeup, and I use the coconut oil as my sole body moisturizer. I make my own combo of raw unrefined shea butter combined with the coconut oil as my face cream - it literally SAVED me when my skin was trashed(chemical burn)from the wrong stuff applied to it. I sure learned my lesson not to apply anything aggressive to my face. Plus, with all the great oils around, there is bound to be something that one likes, if not to eat, to apply.

The oils sold in stores are processed, and I don't eat processed foods. I've been advised that store-bought oils are all rancid to some degree. I get my oils in their natural state, in foods. On my salads I use only unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

Yep. I haven't done seeds, nuts & oils for years. I just never liked the taste of oil. As for the others, I didn't feel like incorporating since I'm already happy with fruits and veggies.
