I just wanted to jump up and down this morning! I've been doing raw for 19 days now and a lot of gourmet raw. I actually was eating a lot more nuts than I know I should be because I loved the recipes so much. Whenever I ate raw nuts on a regular diet it halted my weight loss. Last week when I weighed myself I was 134, this morning I was down to 130! I have not seen that number in a few years. I am so excited. I know it's not all fat, but that gets me more motivated that I can get below 125 and still be athletic and fit. I'm aiming for 120 for my birthday in May. I want to jump and sing all day! But I will go to the gym tonight and work hard!

Congrats on the weight loss!
I was thinking about the nuts/seeds thing last night while watching some of Ani's recipe videos. "How is it possible to lose weight when these recipes are full of fat?" This is my first week on raw, so I haven't really indulged in all the wonderful looking recipes I've come across. It's just mainly been fruits and veggies for me so far. I was wondering if it'd be possible to lose any weight in the following weeks if I ate more nuts/seeds. I guess it is possible. (:
Ok, sorry I got sidetracked. Thanks for sharing the great news. It's motivation for me!

I honestly didn't expect anything, i am working out moderately every other day now and still eating a lot of food, mostly fruit and salad and then a nice filling meal for dinner and a treat. I ate over 1500 in calories with my rawviolis and dessert on monday night on top of my other food, so i am shocked. I settled for feeling satisfied first and trying new recipes before cutting down on fat and eating more simple. I am glad that I am not off course and that my body is still happy with me. I've been pretty stuff every night all the way up to bedtime so i figured i was eating way too late too, because of going to the gym after work. :)

I rarely gain weight on raw, only lose it. No matter how much I eat.
This I love..... ON raw, you can eat how much food you want!!! Key is you dont want much because it is so filling, fullfilling and satisfying to the body needs.

I'm going to stop feeling guilty about eating bananas before the gym now. I thought it might be kind of pointless to basically be burning only the calories i just ate, but i love fruit so much and it gives me energy and I happy it's easy for me to be satisfied with it.

HEY CONGRATS! i love having the best mornings ever... :D
when i started raw, i also was losing weight despite all the nuts! i was also physically active
then about 5 months later i went off raw for the holidays and got a sedentary job... wow, i gained everything back and more! when i finally got back to raw, i could not longer lose weight with all the nuts and sedentary lifestyle! man, exercise really matters..
oops went off topic there. i also had the best morning ever- a green juice did it for me

i've been "back" for about 6 months now actually. but what i saw is that without physical activity, eating all raw with lots of nuts does NOT let me lose weight. But that's changing, the weather is great, i got a bike! yay! finally getting back in shape hehe.. (and now instead of making raw desserts at home and inhaling them in 1-2 days, i make them for our deli at the store heehehe, that keeps me from over-indulging :)

Yes i know what you mean the exercise is definitely helping but holy man i am so sore today. I had a personal trainer get me to do a lot of squats yesterday and every muscle in my leg is screaming today i had to skip the gym today in the hopes i can go tomorrow and saturday. Also I wish i had someone to pawn my desserts off on. I have to make enough or the vitamix wont blend so i end up getting 2 or 3 servings and then eating one after dinner. Shouldn';t do that regularly but i have no one else to share it with. My ex only eats milk chocolate he says he cant stand dark chocolate so he won't touch the stuff i make. ick even the thought of milk makes me cringe and my skin itch.

Your positive eneregy is like a breath of fresh air Veronica!
I feel so happy for you, and I'm sure the weight will melt off with what you are doing.
And I so don't bother with calories, I want nuts, I eat nuts. The weight still came off. In fact (and this is a hoot) I mentioned on another forum that the weight came off so much I was baffled at first by how the elastic on all my knickers could go at once! Duh!

That's awesome girl! I know you've helped give me advice on some of my threads--so maybe I'll try what you're doing with decreasing fats. Can you write a typical day of what you eat for me? I know everyone is different but I am open to trying out other things if what I'm doing isn't working. Keep on you're doin' great!

hmm well I eat a little different every day
example:
Breakfast: 1 large navel orange, 1 grapefruit
Lunch: 1.5 cups of romaine lettuce, 3 celery stalks chopped, 2 handfuls of baby carrots and a small amount of flaxoil, lemon juice and garlic on the salad.
Surprisingly not starving all day!
Snack before gym: 2 bananas
Dinner: 4 rawviolis (thick tomato marinara no oil, filling pine nuts mac nuts, walnuts, garlic, lemon, parsley) strawberry parfait, (coconut oil and cashews creamed, with pureed strawberries and fresh strawberries)
After that dinner i was absolutely stuffed all night i highly suspect it was too many nuts. Next morning totally fine and bm's normal.
Another day
Breakfast "oatmeal" 1 tbsp soaked flax seed, 1 banana, 2 apples, blended, raisins added
so full after that, can't eat lunch until after noon
Lunch: 1.5 cups of romaine lettuce, 3 celery stalks chopped, 2 handfuls of baby carrots and a small amount of flaxoil, lemon juice and garlic on the salad.
Snack before gym: 2 bananas
Dinner: 1 small zuchini spiralized with marinara sauce and some banana chocolate pudding for dessert
again totally stuffed until bed time.
Another day
Breakfast: Smoothie of almond milk, 2 bananas, some dates and an apple
Lunch: Green smoothie, 2 bananas agave, kale
Snack: Navel orange
Dinner: mushroom caps with marinara or pesto and romaine salad with chocolate mousse for dessert.
I'm thinking about reducing how much i'm eating because of how full i am after dinner. I am just grateful that my body is putting up with my excitement for new recipes and not punishing me. I usually eat very simple for breakfast and lunch and make everything for the week or if i have to smoothies in the morning and then i get creative at dinner because i have the time and like to sit down and enjoy a meal and a show after work.

We shall see. :) I am going to consciously try to eat fat only at dinner now and simple breakfast and lunch foods. It's fun trying new recipes, the internet is great for that. I haven't bought any books yet for them, just looked them up on line.

That's great!! How rewarding! :) Isn't it fun to see how raw works, even when you eat all kinds of tasty treats (That would typically be verboten on a cooked "diet") :D
It doesn't look to me like you are eating too much in a day, but listen to your body. I know I have phases where I eat a LOT, and then some phases where all I want is green smoothies or juice for a week. It sounds like you are listening to your body already which is great! Congrats!

So this morning im down to 129 i'm so happy. I'm eating so much and never hungry. I only eat fruit for breakfast and either fruit or veggies for lunch and i've inspired a guy at work to do the same as he's worried about his health and unhappy with his weight. Even my sister the doctor said "hmm" when I told her how much Im eating and losing weight. She said, fine I will eat only fruits and veggies for lunch on weekdays, but i can't stop eating out because i'm too busy. I told my mom and she was like wow... ok well don't lose too much weight... That kind of made me sad, i dont look anywhere unhealthy or too skinny and at my age she was even skinnier than me because she never ate. I told her how much i'm eating and she says not to lose too much... but she'll try to eat fruits and veggies. I told her about green smoothies, i doubt she'd try them, maybe regular smoothies. She said eating salad 4 meals a week is good enough for them and better than most Americans.. I think they may be eating fast food salads, I don't know. I just find it frustrating that people think I am extreme for eating incredibly healthy and a frequently, but they don't say anything when people go on slimfast or nutrisystem. That's crazy.
