hey--just wondering what the best thing is to do with non organic fruit peels...i hate to throw in the trash something that could/should be returned to the earth, but my citrus fruit (and probably other things) are definitely sprayed with fungicides, as it notes it on the bags.... so i dont think i really want to put these into my veggie garden compost.... and actually, do i really want to put them onto the earth anywhere/in any compost/anywhere outside, knowing that they have been sprayed with this junk? i always wash the fruit with soap before using, so maybe the spray has just gone into the waterways instead (ARGH) and its fine to compost the peels. or maybe they still have loads of the fungicides etc in them, in which case it doesnt seem the best choice to knowingly put these into the soil....im stuck on this one...help?

I put them all in the compost. I think that the composter is better abel to deal with them and convert them into something normal than anything else can.
I have to admit that the risk of this had not dawned on me.

It doesn't matter to the Compost heap. You know how Hot it gets. If the Skin is THAT dangerous, I would not handle it with My hands as you did. R-e-l-a-x.

yeah sport, i guess youre probly right...not the ideal/perfect solution, but it probably can deal with it best out of all possible options... the guy whos tunnel i use doesnt want citrus peels in the compost anyway cuz he says they take to long to degrade, so ill probably have to start another one somewhere....but i dont think ill use it to fertilize my veggies. just leave it into the earth.... i mean im aware that whenever im buying non organic that they have been/could have been sprayed with junk, but i guess this just sort of came to the forefront because the citrus from lidl actually says on the package that its been sprayed with x y and z fungicides, i think all non organic citrus is anyway. maybe organic too i dont know.
spicyful--actually i hate touching them until theyve been washed. i dont know if washing takes any of the pesticides off but at least it makes me feel a little better...
