I knew that this would happen. I went off my smoothies about a week ago and I can seriously tell the difference in the way I feel both physically and emotionally.:( I am feeling really tired and depressed. I have a lot going on that I am usually able to handle when I am drinking my smoothies. I was drinking them faithfully, daily, and then I got tired of them, even after trying different fruits and veggies. It was the texture that I couldn't stand any more and I just needed a break. I tried them with less water, more water, no water. I was having a hard time getting them down no matter what I tried. Then I just reduced from 32 to 16 oz but that didn't help much because then I was hungry. I didn't take up eating bad foods to replace the smoothies thank God but the smoothies are like medicine for me. I don't care what the texture - I am going back to my smoothies beginning tomorrow morning. Actually I may make one tonight when I get home because I can't stand feeling this way. It is affecting everything that I do. The only thing holding me together right now is that I am eating right and I have started exercising.
My question is - has anyone else had this reaction? I have had this happen before and I know that I will be OK after about a week - once I am drinking my smoothies again. I don't want to get bored again with the texture. Any suggestions? I really need help because I need my smoothies and I can stand feeling this way!:(

Try eating the Smoothie in a Bowl with a spoon. You're right, just tell yourself...It's Medicine and take your Medicine also tell your Body what the Smoothies are doing for it and you want it, your Body, to embrace the Smoothies. I talk to My Body all the time.......I tell it What I want it to do.

Well Spicyfull,
I didn't eat it in a bowl but I did have my smoothie this morning I am happy to say. I made an all fruit smoothie because I was craving something sweet. That seemed more palitable than the green smoothies I had been drinking. In fact when I started drinking it I couldn't stop because it was so good. What I didn't mention in my last post too was that without the smoothies I am not as "regular" (I know, I know - TMI):o. But this morning after my smoothie - voila!
Everytime I go off the smoothies and go back on it takes a little longer each time for me to get back to my normal self. I really need to get back to "normal' quickly because I don't like feeling so out of sorts and depressed. It also seems like when I go off of the smoothies I get more in a funk - that's probably why it takes longer to get out of it. I am going to try to stick it out. Maybe I will have 2 or 3 smaller smoothies per day instead of one big one. Maybe that will help.

Sounds like making Smaller Portions will work or even having them say, 3 times a week or so. In Joy.

Yes I did this too. I thought I would drink(eat) green smoothies forever. I too tired of them. I resisted and kept having them. Almost to the point of nausea. So I asked myself why? Why,if my body is saying no, I keep forcing the issue...haha.
So I moved on to other things. I see now that it was time. I was ready to vary my eating. I missed getting so many greens in one meal. So I make energy soup. Which is basically a green smoothie without the fruit and with spices. Then I warm in the dehy and eat with a spoon. That helped.
Also I then wanted green juice. How great was that i thought??? Straighte green juice without the heavy bulk of smoothies.
The body progresses. It asks for what it wants. We listen or not. I was glad I did.
Now I have a green smoothie when I feel the need for one. I might want to go back to every day again.Who knows. And it is ok. Best to you.

Thanks to all. I am finding that I can tolerate the smoothies every day for a while (most recently daily for about two months). But I think I do need to change up because if it gets to the point where I can't even stand the texture why should I force it when there are other foods I can have? The problem I have is that I really do feel so much better when I have the smoothies. Even if everything else I am eating is perfect I just really get something extra from the smoothies. For some reason they really do it for me. But I have decided that if I want to be successful long term I need a new strategy. So for now I am into the fruit smoothies. The next time I feel the need for a change I will try fresh juices for a while and I will switch up like that. Hope that helps.

You keep mentioning the texture. Do you have a vitamix? Sometimes with other blenders the greens don't blend well and it doesn't taste NEAR as good. Glad you are able to stomach them again! I know I can tell a huge difference in my energy when I don't have mine!

I don't have a Vitamix - yet! Saving up for it. But I really don't think it's the blender. The texture really doesn't bother me until I get to the point where I just need to make a change. Like I was saying before I was able to make it with the smoothies for about 2 months without any problems. Then no matter what I did I just couldn't stand the taste. I took a little time off and now I am loving my smoothies again. I think I will start alternating between smoothies and fresh juices for a while and see how that goes. I really love what the smoothies do for me. My emotions and my disposition are not great when I don't have them. Just got to figure out what works for me.
