I just ordered some cacao powder but have since read all the side effects from this bean , I'm a bit scared to try it now. I have never been able to drink coffee as I get major heart palpitations. Has anyone experience side effects from cacao

Cacao is different for everyone and it is not for everyone.See how it goes for you. Maybe have a little to start.

Personally I have not used raw cacao yet, but use raw carob, which I have heard have somewhat a different taste.

I think everything needs to be eaten in moderation and you should be fine.

Just start slow, it won't kill you :) . Cacao has different effects on everyone and different effects on the same person at different stages in their life. Try a little and see how you feel.

Except cherries. Cherries need to be eaten in bulk... LOTS of cherries! LOTS! :p

Sure they have but doesn't mean you will.

I don't eat it. Doesn't work well for me.

hi, altho new to raw, i have been adding this every AM-- just 2 tbl spoons of nibs, then i grind them, to my fresh Oj. i was a former light coffee drinker (1 lg cup a day)--i have not had any side effects at all. i suppose one could sya it has replaced coffe for me & they would be right, but this all i have a day and i dont add it to anything else.... i think there is negative opinion for everything out there somewhere...it is frustrating as well as overwhelming if you listen to it all. all you can do is try it and make your own decision.

Just try a little bit at first and see how you feel. When I first got my raw cocoa powder I used a tablespoon in a smoothie and it was way to much for me (my nerves). I find that 1 tsp. is enough for me now--in a smoothie or fudge. Using part carob part cocoa works well too.

Jewels: did you mean to say cacAo powder?

cocOa powder means "processed" and often toasted and added sugars, could be where your side effects are coming from

make sure your cacao is raw : ) i grind my own beans because the powder can be devitalized if sitting on shelf too long too

Pitaya, yes I meant cacao. It is raw and made by Navitas. I wasn't aware of the distinction between cocao and cocoa. Thanks for the info!

you guys sound so sketchy about cocao like it is some unknown hush hush drug.

you know, it seems like an amazing food- perhaps it really shoudl be taken in tiny amounts!

I ordered some, and when i started eating it, it was so good that i ate...way too much. and next day i had such a bad headache

Try for yourself ;)

Cacao is absolutely alright, it is actually considered by some to be a superfood.
