Hi,

Still trying to figure out cool recipes for my little guy with allergies. He used to live off of hummus, but turns out he is allergic to garbanzo beans. I used the banana and found the zucchini hummus recipe. I will try it, but he doesn't like zucchini, so I'm not sure it will fly.

He is also allergic to almonds... anyone have any good hummus recipes without garbanzos, almonds or zucchini??

Thanks!

No-Bean Hummus
2 Zucchini, peeled & chopped
¾ cup Tahini
½ cup Lemon juice
¼ cup Olive Oil
4 Garlic cloves
2 ½ tsp Salt
½ Tbs Cumin powder
Blend.

This is all I could find in my recipes. I have never tried it. I wonder if you don't tell him there isn't zucchini in it he wouldn't notice since it doesn't have much flavor and with all the garlic and spices in it will cover zucchini flavor. ;)

You can't even really taste the zucchini in the recipe, anyway. I think it's worth a shot and just not really mentioning it. make a small batch?

I saw a recipe once for a lime-pistachio one:

here it is:
http://goneraw.com/recipe/pistachio-lime-hummus I really liked it.

looking for that recipe I found that they had a bunch of other hummus recipes, so you may want to see what else they have.

No, he can't have sunflower seeds, but YES he loves cashews and does well with them!

That pistachio hummus recipe looks like a winner too. I will try both the zucchini and the pistachio recipes.

Thank you all! :D

I make hummus from sprouted black eyed peas. In my hands, garbanzo beans spoil on my windosill before they sprout but bep's do the trick.

Wow, I love BEPs..... must try sprouting them!

So many fab recipes to try out!

I've made cashew hummus like I would the regular chickpea recipe:

1 cup cashews
1 cup water
juice of 1 lemon
sea salt to taste
glug of sesame oil
half cup sesame seeds
2-4 cloves garlic (adjust to your taste)

Add everything but the water to the FP and process gradually adding water till you have a hummus consistency. Yummers!

He LOVED the pistachio-lime hummus. He ate it plain and also as a thick dressing for his salads. We also tried the zucchini one and that was also a big hit. Plus he thinks he is really special that he gets his own container of hummus in the fridge. His little brother turned his nose up at and wouldn't even try...his loss!

Ooh, now that's an idea. He can have bep's...do you have a recipe you like using those??
