2 big servings:

broth:
3T Miso
3 cup water

garnish:
2 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup jicama chopped in cm cubes
2T Dulse, chopped in little bits

blend Miso in water until fully dissolved. If you want it warm, blend longer or put in the dehydrator for a bit

add garnish to each bowl and pour in broth.

Enjoy!

The jicama does a great job of replacing the tofu that is usually in miso soups. It's much crunchier, but the flavor is so mild and it gives your teeth something to work on.

Thank you so much! I love jicama and grew up eating it, but I'm surprised at how many people don't know what it is! I like it raw or marinate it ins some oil and spices for jicama fries, but miso soup is a family favorite, so I will definitely try this out!!

Miso is cooked before you buy it. It's considered a live food but not raw.

Even unpasteurized miso? Miso Master Organic Miso is unpasteurized. I found some at my local Hy-Vee in the Health Market section.

Yay, glad you enjoyed it

and yes, miso is made from cooked grains/legumes that are then fermented. so some people may choose not to eat even unpasteurized miso.

Where can you get miso? My organic store does not have it, and what kind of bottle does it come in? You'd think it'd be by the nori sheets or something...

If you have a Hy-Vee supermarket near you, you might be able to find it in their Health Market section. It will be refrigerated. The brand mine carries is Miso Master Organic Miso and is unpasteurized. If you can't find it there, you can get it here:

Do you have any local Asian stores? I always can find miso there.

Hmm i guess I could go straight to a strictly asian market, I always feel nervous because you're literally 1 of the only caucasian people there. Is this good? I dont know if i've had miso soup, i've had egg drop soup before. hmm
