Ohhh, I can feel your excitement!!

My favorites are really pretty simple, oranges, greens and berries or oranges and bananas and greens. If I'm feeling toxic, oranges and half a bunch of cilantro is the bomb, but I only seem to want this one if I'm feeling toxic. If I feel the need for salt, celery with oranges or with cumber. Cucumber, tomato, celery for a soup. I make a dressing out of one orange and half an avocado, simple, but very tasty.

Have fun,

Deborah

I love frozen smoothies, i love using almond milk, banana, frozen strawberries and frozen mango, its just like dessert. Or you can make any kind of icecream too, frozen bananas with almond milk are great for that too

I made a video of making my first smoothie. I will share it once it processes.

What's even more exciting is that DH and I originally planned on taking some "fun money" and buying the VM with that... but those funds got reallocated to something a bit less (fun).

So I had to come up with the money myself. So I turned to the internet...and I won. Raised the money in just 8 hours! (=

Your not a goober. You just looked excited. You should see me make a green smoothie. You chop everything so nice. I just stuff handfuls of vegetables and fruit in . I don't think I have ever cut a banana down and I don't even have a vita-mix. I think my video would need a goober recomendation.

Wonderful, MrsJ!
Next time, just throw the banana in.. I usually just break it in half, if that.
Stuff a big handful of greens in there, too :)
The reversing switch comes in handy, as well. Don't be afraid to hit the reverse a few times, it breaks up the cell walls that much faster!

Enjoy!

I will have to try the reversing switch. I don't even know what that one is yet!

I am so used to chopping!

YAY!!!!! NO MORE PREP (kinda)

Suck!

Question: I heard that mixing stuff can "warm" food. Can I make my warm soups in here?

i don't think the vitamix has a reverse button. someone, correct me if i'm wrong.

you can def. make warm soups in the vitamix, just make sure they don't get too hot!

my favorite smoothies are:
bananas and spinach
pineapple, papaya and cilantro
bananas and water

i also enjoy making puddings in the vitamix...avocado, banana and maybe mango. of course you can make something with cacao too if you want chocolate pudding.

enjoy your vitamix it is such a fabulous machine!! i use mine at least once a day!

My 5000 doesn't have a reverse button but I don't know if the newer one does.

Just wanted to say, I was in Costco recently and there was a Vita-Mix 5200 demo going on. I asked the man how hot the new model got and he said "it can boil". My 5000 does not do that...at least I don't think it can.

Did you get a manual with it?

For real, all I do is toss in my washed veggies and fruit w/o cutting - and just use the tamper to move things along.

My current favorite smoothie is:
Pineapple, kale, mango, and cucumber. But I really like the smooth and creamy sauces it makes too.

Enjoy it!

Congrads on your new vita mix!

I just recently got mind also. When I came home and saw the box I started to jump up and down like a little kid :) It is quite the amazing machine it does things so quick and clean up is so easy. Also it is fun to experiment all the things it can do. I am still experimenting of course. I made guacamole and it is amazing and so smooth. So have fun. I know I will!

Ah, they must have taken the reverse switch off.

Mine will boil. Back when I first got it, I would make white sauces, gravies, and hot soups in it, besides smoothies. I never use it that long at a time now.

Hmm, wonder if the blade design is different, and it doesn't need to reverse now to get the same cell-bursting effects...

CAN YOU PUT APPLES IN THE VITAMIX? (For like a smoothie)

Do you peel them first?

yes. I don't.

reminds me of a series I saw once, "will it blend". Invariably, the answer is yes.

Cut them in half. Throw everything but the stem in. It's all good :p

I recall hearing that apple seeds contain arsenic. Can anyone confirm or deny?
