Good Day,
Perhaps I have arrived here in an odd way, then again maybe not. I have wanted a Vitamix since I was in college and finally broke down and bought one a week ago (it is getting delivered today).
I have had intestinal/digestion issues for a long time and have at some points eliminated various foods from my diet (mainly meats and wheat but some other stuff too). I did feel better when I was doing the elimination diets but not satisfied and eventually gave up and went back to SAD (minus red meat).
In waiting for my Vitamix I have stumbled (via the internet) upon the raw food lifestyle and voila...here I am!!! This may be what I've been looking for all along. I am quite an avid cook and wasn't happy when I had eliminated all those foods before. It looks like I can still be very creative in the kitchen and still strive to try a new recipe every week and heal my body! What a wonderful thought/feeling that is!!
A few other basics, I'm a 51 yo woman who lives in the Boston area. I enjoy hiking, jogging, reading, cooking (I guess I should think about changing that to preparing interesting/healthy foods) and hanging out with my partner (Elaine) and my dogs.
It's a pleasure to meet you all.

Welcome to Raw Food Talk. The vitamix is such a treasure, bringing you to raw food. Digestive issues brought me here too. The closer I am to 100% raw, the better they are. I was a baker and love preparing and eating raw desserts.
Good luck on your raw journey!

Hi Wendy,
My name is April, and I live in West Haven, CT with my partner Linda. I came to this website this morning, and today was my first day eating only raw foods. I have a few questions, but will keep reading all the posts and blogs to see if I can find the answers myself before asking people.
What are your goals, besides intestinal stability? I would like to lose the 30 pounds I put on gradually over the past 10 years.
I also jog, and there is a Susan G. Koman race for the cure on June 6th in Hartford, CT, followed by Gay Pride CT at Bushnell Park. I am inviting you and your family to attend.
Thanks for your openness in your post. God Bless and good luck on your raw journey.
APRIL

Hi Wendy (and April!),
welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find lots of great info here.
I've heard many a story of people managing, and in many cases curing their intestinal issues via raw foods. And the capacity for creativity is ENORMOUS! Just check out the photos only threads here and all the other threads with pics, you'll be amazed!
Good luck to you both, may you find all the health you are looking for. :D
