I sprouted and made a salad out of quinoa last night. A couple hours later I had an upset stomach(as did my husband). I attributed it to the raw brownies I ate, because I hadn't been eating chocolate or sweets. Well fast forward to today, we ate the left over salad for lunch(no brownies after) and a couple hours later same upset stomach, this time with a headache, dry mouth, and gross belching(eww, sorry). My husband has similar symptoms. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I know it had to be the quinoa, because all the other ingredients had been eaten/used before. I've eaten cooked quinoa and had no such reaction.

you started sprouting it? The seeds are coated with a chemical that helps prevent it from being eaten. Natural chemical for the seed. Anyway, it's suppose to taste terrible but not sure if it makes you queesy.
How long did you sprout them and how did you do it?

I rinsed it over and over again, then soaked overnight and then it took another day to sprout. I thought the chemical could be rinsed off...hmmm. So after it sprouts it's still coating the seed?

I guess on any given day, anything out of the Norm can happen. I know RAW will make more gas in the Body. Some grains might be too rough on your stomach and seem to cause other illness.
Someone will drop by and give you the answer you are looking for. So for now I will just give it a "BUMP" up.

Thanks, I would have thought it was just me because I had cut out all grains (since last spring) before going raw. I realize that most grains dont' agree with me (quinoa and rice cooked were the only 2). But since it affect my husband as well I realize that it must be something about the quinoa in its raw state.
I don't have to eat grains, I had some on hand and wanted to use it up.

Sounds like you did the right amount of washing the seed. I wonder if it had something else on it that wouldn't wash off.
