Hi all. Today is day one raw (well, kind of.. i did slip a bit). I am a major emotional eater and with a non raw husband and 4 kids, working part time and a full time student - I tend to overeat a lot! I got sick and tired of being sick and tired AGAIN, so here I am. I usually have trouble staying raw after two weeks, even though I feel awesome after just one day...

This is what I ate today

2 clementines
2 cups coffee (I know, I need to cut this out but I usually drink 4-8 cups daily)
a huge spinach salad with red onions, carrots, red peppers, and Annie's "Green Goddess" dressing - I don't think it's 100% raw, but it's my favorite.
about a handful of oven-fried potatoes with ketchup (I made them for the kids... oops) :(
sprouted buckwheat groats with almond milk (store bought - not good, I know)
Alissa's fettuccini alfredo
A green smoothie
2 peppermint truffles

Is this a HUGE amount of food or what? I don't really need to lose weight, maybe 5-10 lbs to be where I want to be - my BMI is 21, which is normal. Is it normal to eat SO much?

Take it one Day at a Time. Spend an Hour or Two Preping your food for the week. If you cook for your Family, let someone else do the dishes. You are one Busy Lady, if you snack a lot......keep Carrots handy.

If the food is all raw, you can eat as much as your hunger wants. Especially starting out, because you have come off of a heavy SAD diet. This is Alissa's philosophy.

It doesn't look like a lot to me, but the cooked food could trigger "too" much. It looks like your getting a lot of good food in. Just listen to your body and eat when your hungry and don't if your not.

Good luck.

Good luck with this. And i agree with the other posters. One day at a time. Don't look at the BIG picture, but enjoy what you do with each meal. You may need more time to transition totally...hang in there...

Thanks guys! I have been almost 100% raw today - I did have a few cups of coffee. I really needed some encouragement! Thank you. I made the Collard wraps today - WOW WOW WOW - they were AWESOME! (Dare I say, RAWsome? LOL)

i gave up coffee like 2 weeks ago - didn't think i could - didn't really WANT to :D but finally i did. mostly b/c i have to have sugar in mine, and i wanted to stop having sugar, but no way was i drinking it w/o sugar! it was easier than i thought to do it. i still love it and miss it and don't know what the future holds for our relationship :D

also, i'm no expert b/c my biggest raw streak was 45 hours or so (i had tempeh for dinner last night! i made it for my daughter and she didn't eat it) but i found even that very first day i ate way more than i did the 2nd day. we'll see about today.
