Been wondering about nettles too. They grow wild in my garden and are wasted alot of times. I want to harvest them this year and ven dry/dehydrate for when out of season. Now, they sting and the only way i know of getting rid of the sting is dipping in hot water.... aka cooking. I'll look at that other thread in the link above and see if there are alternatives - last thing I want is nettle stings all over the place........

lucky you! Could I come and live in your Garden, please? :D

Nettles are yummy and powerful stuff and if you know how to pick them they don't sting at all.

One of my raw friends healed herself from vit.B12 deficiency by eating (unwashed) nettles from the garden. Enjoy this bliss!

very slowly take the leaf between your fingers and as soon as you managed to do that, start rolling it into a little power-ball :)
Once you get used to nettles they'll stop stinging you,-it is a question of a mindset too.

rawjac--once you dehydrate them they dont sting anymore, just the fresh ones. be careful though when washing them, even when removed from the plant they can still sting.

someone once told me that theres something in our saliva thats supposed to de-activate the stinging component (acid or whatever) in fresh nettles. i came to the conclusion that i must have defective saliva....i dont advise trying it :)

I've heard that blending up the fresh leaves (don't know if it has to be in a VM or Blendtec) is enough to inactivate the sting. I haven't tried this yet, though. Don't yet know where to find some (and I've only seen them in photos).
