I'm not really sure how you make sure you get all your nutrients on a raw diet. When I tried a largely raw diet I had trouble with fatigue every day. I know this was supposedly because your body is flushing out toxins, but couldn't that fatigue also be from not getting nutrients your body needs? How do you tell the difference?
Please keep in mind that I am not seeking to attack the raw diet. I figure that there is probably a lot that I don't know and I don't understand and that maybe I was missing something. But doesn't fatigue mean there's something wrong or missing? Other people can tell you this was true about me too. They observed the fatigue also.

So, what did I do wrong? I would say my diet was largely fruit, and some vegetables, raw nuts, but I also had cooked rice, which I know is not raw.

Hi there,

It sounds like you were doing great. Don't worry about specific nutrients. Seriously. With eating raw you will be getting far better nutrition than most SAD eaters. All those fresh fruits and veggies are chock full of awesome nutrients! You can always take a whole food based multi supplement in addition to being raw if you are really concerned, although I really don't think that is necessary.

Fatigue is one of the most common detox symptoms. Don't worry about it, really. It will get better. Just make sure you are getting enough calories and you will be fine!

I've raw for seven years and never once worried about specific nutrients. I don't supplement and I feel great!!!

Stay raw, don't worry and enjoy your fruits and veggies!

Blessings,

Audrey

When I first went RAW, I experienced tiredness and slept a lot. I discovered that sometimes My tiredness was Hunger and I felt better after I ate a Meal.

Also try keeping a Journel for a while to track your eating and progress. Your Body is So Busy getting rid of Toxins and it drains your energy. Vitimans are fine with me if you feel the need to take them.

Have a RAWonderful Journey........

I see that question you asked first a lot ("How do you get nutrients") In which case I respond "How do you get all of your nutrients from eating junk food?"

Hey there. You say when you TRIED a LARGELY Raw diet. Lots of questions come into play here. How LARGELY Raw was it and how long did you TRY it?

I have been fasting for 37 days and I KNOW I am getting all my nutrients. If not, I surely would have shown a sign before now. Prior to that, I have been Raw for almost three years. I healed two dis-eases - migraines (lifelong - 50+ years' worth) and a basically dead thyroid (6 years of up and down with meds that did nothing for it). 11 months of going Raw and I healed and am off ALL meds for ANYthing. I KNOW I get the nutrients I need because I eat living, whole, healthy foods. I don't calculate, count, figure in, none of that. I just listen to my body. Some days I want cilantro-flavor, other days it's sweet, other times citrus, and so on. It depends. There are so many Raw foodists that if this were the case -not getting enough nutrients - they would become sick. But eating Raw does not make on nutrient-deficient.

Lucky me, I never expirienced something like detoxing or fatigue during my first and now my second raw period.

I also think, it is a mind thing. I start my day with the thought: "How many lovely, delicious and healthy food I can get and eat?"

In the evening I make myself a tasty dinner, maybe some snacks for TV-watching and I'm completely satisfied and happy, so, that I can go to bed relaxed and I fall asleep pretty soon, just to start a new powergiving healthy next day.
