Is it true that you can sleep for 4 hours if you live on green smoothies like this person says?
"I consumed massive amounts of green smoothies and lots of water, and within two weeks, I was waking up completely alert and rested after only 4 hours. I read very little literature on raw foods before this, so I had no clue what was going on. It hit me like a ray of light through the clouds."

Things work differently on each of us but RAW in general will help us sleep deeper is a shorter time and wake more alert. Beginning RAW you might find yourself sleeping all the time untli your Body does all its work and things taper off. So try it and see how your Body does on it.
It really varies. I know that when fasting, some people have a similar experience (sometimes with even less sleep!) but when the body is cleansing deeply may go through cycles of needing huge amounts of sleep.
I find, as a general rule, I need less sleep on raw.

If I eat really lightly or fast then I will only need 4 hours of sleep. On regular raw I need 5 hours.
I think I know where this quote came from, from Anthony at www.rawmodel.com . I love that blog!

I'm glad that it's normal be sleepy alot starting out. B/c I was starting to get worried that I wasn't eating enough or something.

When a body is clean and healthy, it's completely possible. Notice when the majority of those who eat heavy dead foods laden with unhealthy fat need to sleep extensively to feel fully rested.
It's not about green smoothies. It's more about having a healthy and clean body that is getting fueled with easily assimilated nutrients.

I've been sleeping for almost double the time I used to sleep! I'm used to getting 4 or 5 hours a night, and now I'm having 8-10 hours! I think it's detox as I feel like I have an awful cold and my neck is swollen.
Omg, I could sleep 8-10 hour every night.
I get up at 5:30 to make my DH a smoothie and then PLOP right back into bed.
I'm exhausted, but I'm only in my third week at 80% raw.

I have been sleeping a lot too and was getting worried that something was wrong. Yesterday I slept 12 hours! I am only 3 weeks in at 100% though.

Compare it with animals, the herbivores need t eat all day long, so they are up early and they use the day completely.
Carnivores however just eat as much as possible after they hunted something down and then, they relax in the shadow and digest.
