I don't know what the deal is....I've been juice feasting for about 3 weeks. Everything has been easy-peasy til today. 3 times I have found myself chewing-COOKED FOOD. I spit it out in the trash each time, but what the heck? I have fasted for longer before. I am feasting, so I'm not hungry. ALL food looks appealing, esp rich cooked foods like pastas with cheese sauces, meats, burgers, etc. Not snack foods, but really fatty rich MEALS.
Is it the fat I am missing? b-12? iron? I don't know what to make of this....

I suspect it is the fat you're missing, & suggest adding some avacado to a nice green juice, maybe blending it in after making the juice...maybe a taco/salsa/guac ingredient type of smoothie...?
Also maybe avoid being around cooked food for a day or two, or making sure you've just filled up on juice first, at least!

no way... don't go near an avocado... that's going to send your digestive system into a tailspin. anastazia must not realize you are fasting.
add some flax oil or hemp oil to a juice. or just take it down on a spoon. i add it to my tomato juice every night. ;)

I took a couple of tsps of EVOO and my pH was TERRIBLE this morning. I'm getting quite peeved at this whole pH thing.

Perhaps, you are doing a deeper level of healing and cleansing.
Hope you feel better soon, best wishes on your fast

I worry about your spitting. Could be a potentially slippery slope to bulimia..

well I gave up the fast shortly after that and 99% of my food choices have been deliberate, conscious, blessed choices. It's been a wonderful week. I have been able to spend 5 days LISTENING to what my body wants. granted, my week has been WAAAAY less stressful than usu. but I am hoping to build from here.

ah nice to hear you are listening to your body and feeling good about your choices :)
i have to say... i can't imagine anyone getting an eating disorder from spitting out some food... an eating disorder is not just simply the desire to get food out of your mouth after all. it's a much deeper dis-ease than that.

Chew and spit eating is exactly what it sounds like. A person chews up the food, usually a sweet or highly caloric food, and then spits it out. There are as many ways to act out this behavior as there are people. It is usually excessive, as the person literally "binges" on food they cannot allow themselves to ingest without gaining weight. In their mind this allows them the taste and the feeling of actually eating without the calories.
According to Wikipedia, an eating disorder is defined as "a complex compulsion to eat in a way which disturbs physical, mental and psychological health." A person who chews and spits their food is harboring an unhealthy relationship with food and their body.
A real danger for a person who chews and spits is that it could develop into another eating disorder, such as anorexia. They might feel they are getting satisfaction from the food they chew and spit out and therefore eat less or nothing at all. They could also move on to bingeing and purging. It's a warning sign of self-destructive behavior that may worsen. If you or someone you know practices this behavior consider getting some professional help. Eating disorders can be very difficult, if not impossible, to overcome by yourself and generally grow to govern your entire life.
The real difference here... is that Zaph is fasting. She's not supposed to be eating food - cooked or raw - so when she "finds herself chewing on food" this is most likely a mindless action of habit rather than an eating disorder. Of course, only Zaph knows for sure but from her posts that I've read... I would not have jumped to that conclusion.
Zaph, if you feel you have an eating disorder... definitely get some assistance (((hugs)))

I'm not attacking you Zaphirah or accusing you. I care about you and am concerned that food spitting might become a problem for you. I'm glad if it's not.

I think this is what's going on too.
Fasting is interesting...so many dips, valleys, hills and turns.
Hang in there.
Hugs.
