I have just purchased a dehydrator but it did not come with teflex sheets and I was not aware enough of the situation to order them seperatly. Is there something that I can use while I am waiting to get them. I have been getting by using nothing but I just read that recipe for black cherry pancakes and can not make it without something. Did anyone ever use greasproof paper or baking parchment or any other ideas

You can use plastic wrap. I just dehydrated 9 trays of bananna chips this way. Plastic wrap works even better then the sheets, in my opinion as the chips did not stick on the plastic wrap as they did on the teflex sheets. I won't be buying Teflex sheets for awhile since I bought alot of plastic wrap! The dehydrator has not exceed 105 temperature wise, so take the temperature in consideration when using plastic wrap. You don't want it to melt! Edited to add: Also, with the plastic wrap, you can just throw it away. You don't have any Teflex sheets to clean!

Thanks. I thought that maybe the air needed to pass through and that the teflex sheets facilitated this but if plastic wrap works then all the others should work as well. This will reduce my workload as cheaning the grid sheets after stuff has gone down between the holes and dried there was a bit of a nuicence

 How wasteful. Here's my 2 cents. While you may need to clean teflex sheets, at least they are reusable. Plastic wrap is made from oil.
Oil is a non renewable resource and if you don't clean plastic wrap then you can't even recycle it!

If you don't have teflex sheets, why not just use a plate or glass cutting board. Even parchment paper comes from a renewable resource and can be used over and over again. Please consider these points! :D

One can be informative without being judgmental. :)
I've used wax paper in a pinch as well.

Parchment paper breathes. It is what I use when I've used up my extra plastic trays [I have a snackmaster with optional plastic "fruit rollup trays"].

Just to inform you that I do reuse my plastic. I use it over and over until I am done drying my stuff for the week. Then, I use it to wrap the dried food in for storage. I think being less critical of others would serve you well, my friend. It's a waste of time to critize others like you do. Now, whos the one that's being WASTEFUL here? You cannot buy time, and you seem to WASTE alot of it buy finding fault with others!!!
OH! and by the way, I can buy more plastic wrap. Easy. Can you buy more time? The time you have WASTED being critical?? Oh, such a WASTE of a life.
Just my two cents,
swid

well then why don't you mention your resourcefulness in your first post. should I call the waaaaahmbulence? I was merely being educational and I'm sorry you don't appreciate it. you did state,"Also, with the plastic wrap, you can just throw it away. You don't have any Teflex sheets to clean!"
this advice you gave is promoting wasteful behavior and is what I was criticizing.
and btw there is no connection between reality and time. They are independent of each other. Thus to try to understand time in concept of observing objects does not seem like a good answer. Time is an accident by which moments are multiplied and set in sequential motion. The places or loci where time exists are the substances above and below, where it exists in their sequential movement. The mode of time above causes the mode of time below and both modes are part of one general mode of time from which special modes are derived in individuals above and below. In the theory of special relativity space and time do not exist as independent absolute entities but space-time exists as a combination of the two. so check yourself before you wreck yourself, wastoid!

Ajay, perhaps my own reply to your PM to me was a waste of my time as well?
Perhaps you haven't read it yet, but I had hoped that you would temper your posts in this thread. I also hoped that you would understand the mission of this forum and the environment of loving support that Alissa has created for everyone, completely free of charge. Although it is not my board, and I am not a mod, I am confident in advising you that name-calling is never tolerated on this board. I am disappointed that as a very new member, a few of your posts already have been confrontational. I further suggest that you cool down before posting again.

1. There are MANY people here who are not enviromnentalists BUT, give them/us the benefit of the doubt because perhaps the more they/we get into eating raw and healthy, period, the more conscious they/we may become!
2. Swiddeas did not have to "list her resourcefulness" in a post where she was obviously giving an answer to a question - that was neither here nor there regarding the original post/topic and the member that mentioned plastic wrap was trying to give an alternative to what the person in the OP asked.
3. It's fine to be passionate about your concern for the environment and people being resourceful, but please do so in a respectful manner.
4. People do the best that they can. For example, in the "produce" thread...people do what they can. As mentioned, sometimes it takes a person getting their OWN body/temples in order before they can begin taking notice of or being more conscious about other things such as animal cruelty, environmental issues, etc.
5. We do not and will not tolerate name-calling (i.e. "wastoid") on this forum! Save it for the "other" raw foods board. All this attitude and bickering in this thread will cease as of now because it's unneccesary and uncalled for.
Let's just be mindful that we all come from all different walks of life and we're not all at the same level with various issues. That is why while this is a raw-vegan board, not everyone here is strict vegan where they won't use or wear anything that has to do with animals. Some here are VERY passionate about veganism, but so far no one's throat has been jumped down whenever honey is mentioned as being used in a recipe, etc.
Educating and giving some enlightenment is fine, but again, do so respectfully and if that's not possible, then just grit your teeth and mosey on over too the next post...that's usually the best thing to do.
And no you didn't say, "check yourself before you wreck yourself"?? WHOA...You have GOT be a child of the '80's as I am! LMBO!!

I am not going to waste my time on you anylonger. If I were a "waistoid" I would be spending more time with this post. Since I do not waste my time, unlike you, goodbye!

Autumn and rawinlocks, I truly appreciate your kindness and support as I have never ran into such an immature poster in all my years of posting!
Some people complain because God put thorns on roses, while others praise Him for putting roses among thorns. Thank you, Rawinlocks and Autumn for being the "roses" on this thread.

Okay...I'm going to close this thread now because there is still a hint of bickering and seems it may just keep going back and forth and we don't want/need that and also because the initial question asked in the OP has been answered.
