Hey, I am 18 years old and living in Dublin, Ireland. I have been eating a vegan diet (and lifestyle as best as I can) for the past 2 years. I first heard about raw in December 2007, I had my first brief trial of one week in Jan '08. I loved it but, didn't know enough about it and wasn't too pushed on committing to it at that point.
2 month ago I tried raw again for about 2 weeks, lost 6 pounds, felt great, gradually went back to cooked with no problems. Then 3 weeks ago tried it for just over 2 weeks, this time when I went back to cooked I felt really sick for a few days, I have been eating cooked the past few days and feeling less than good. I am incorporating a good lot of raw foods in though and plan to try a 30 day raw trial in the coming week.
I have always had a lot of fruit and veg in my diet while being vegan.
I have experimented with raw recipes such as:
Raw cheesecake
Raw lasagne
Raw tomato ketchup
Raw cashew cheese
Raw puddings
But I generally prefer to stick to fresh raw produce and keep it simple, works best for me.
Anyway, I am also into fitness and health.
No one else in my family is raw or vegan. My brother is a pescetarian. Although, my family are supportive, especially my mom, in buying food for me and helping me eat well. My Dad seems to think the vegan thing is "a phase", how inspiring... Ha. But he is always buying me fresh fruit from the local market and he knows how to pick a good mango!! He does eat lots of fresh fruit himself.
I finished school in may and am currently working.
Thats [some of] me!
=)

Hello and welcome :) Your dad must be an incredibly clever man for being able to pick a good mango,-it's not an easy task. Lucky you :D Keep up the good work and enjoy the beautiful feeling of raw.

Cool...I'm part Irish :)
It's kind of great that you are experimenting back and forth, I have learned so much about specific foods from doing that, like the food is teaching me.
Your family sounds way supportive compared to some I've read about!!
Welcome anyways, this is a great board!

Well, I guess the beauty is there is you look for it, and not to taint your vision of ireland, but Dublin, where I live, (i live in the suburbs so it's not so bad) is pretty polluted, in town and all. But I think it's really beautiful down the country. Where there are fields instead of masses of housing estates.
Where r u 4m?

Yeah, it is good to experiment, I think. It gives your body a chance to show us that it really thrives on fresh whole foods.
I'm taking it easy this time, a gradual change - I don't want to experience the pendulum effect again.
Yeah, people have been commenting on how supportive my family are which is really nice and now that I have read some not so great support from families, I can see what they mean.
What other part are you? lol, that sounds strange, I don't know how to ask that properly... =P, part irish, part?

Hmm, not plenty enough here! Well, not enough good one's anyway... hmm.. haha.
Price range in Ireland can be from 69c(when they are on sale, doing badly because nobody wants to pay 3 euro for a mango..) to 3 euro, I think, is the highest I have seen them. Generally I find marks and spencers sell 2 for 4 euros when on sale and they have really nice mangoes.
How much do they charge where you are??
