On the counter or in the fridge...? How do you store your avocado? Mine have gone bad on the counter within 48 hours.

If they are really firm or green, then on the counter. If they are soft/ripe when I buy them I use them that day or keep in fridge.

I buy alot of them and put them in the fridge.Leave out the ones I will use right away as they ripen.Bring out one or two at a time so they can ripen. In fridge they keep well. This way I regulate ripening so they dont rot or so I dont have too many get ripe at one time. Its perfect.

Awesome. Thanks ladies. I'd never tried an avocado until four weeks ago when I ventured into raw food. I didn't think I'd like them as much as I do (with a pinch of sea salt). I have one or two a week, but today I was craving them while at work. So, as mentioned here, I listened to my body and picked up a few at the grocery store on the way home.

Yes, I always seem to have several in my fridge at varying degrees of ripeness. They can last two weeks in there it seems. I buy them in varying degrees of ripeness, and it just seems to work out.
Only one or two a week? lol... I miss one or two Days a week. Love em.

I keep 'em on the counter because I always eat them before they go bad :) . Avocadoes don't last long around me!

Whenever you store your Avocado whether in the Fridge or Freezer, always store with the "SEED" this keep them from turning Brown.

The available avo's in the store last night were all quite ripe (dark and soft). Had I left them on the counter overnight, they just might have gone bad that quickly. I put them in the fridge and had another one this morning. Gawd, why am I craving avocados?!? I feel like I could have a mono meal day out of avocados. :) I bought three last night and have one left now. Maybe my brain is detoxing and needs some good fats???

I read somewhere that storing unripe avocados in the fridge interferes with the ripening process when you bring them out. But, since some of you guys do keep unripe ones in there and that would be very convenient, I'm going to experiment and see how that affects them.
Also, someone posted on another thread that she freezes her ripe avocados (in their skins). She said the skin slips off when they're put into hot water and they're still just as good. So I have several in my freezer right now (nice to not have to give away my avocados again because of starting another fast!).

Mine do well with the start them in the fridge, move them to the counter method. Is anything better than an avocado, a little salt and pepper and a spoon?
blessings and peace, Pammie
